Vanishing America: The Drive-In Theater {Gadling}
Jun 4th 2012 10:18AM I restore antique cars professionally and am a huge movie buff, so you think I would be the ideal drive-in movie attendee, right? Wrong! I loved the concept of the drive-in movie until I actually went. Now, in fairness, the only driven in I ever went to was in Wichita, Kansas. Nice place, but the problem for me was the weather. Even at nine o'clock at night, the temperature was 90+ degrees, and the light from the projector and even the dim lights of my radio attracted bugs, lots of bugs! Between the bugs and sweating my butt off, I'll choose an indoor, air conditioned theatre. Would like to visit a drive-in in a different state where the temperature cools off at night and where there aren't as many bugs. Think that may change my opinion of the experience drastically.
Enrique Iglesias on why he won't marry Anna Kournikova {Celestrellas}
Mar 6th 2012 2:46PM I've only been married for about six years now, but I feel that marriage is so much more than just a piece of paper. I can't say that if we weren't married, I would love my wife any less, but I definitely felt a change as we went from dating to engaged to married. Admittedly though, I'm a bit of a traditionalist, but I also say, to each their own. If that works for them, or whomever, great, but I definitely wouldn't generalize marriage as just a piece of paper. Ask any gay couple wanting to get married. I think they would tell you it's more than just a piece of paper.
Win a Ride With Harrison Ford in His Private Plane & More in Bid to Save the Earth Auction - Part I {Luxist}
Apr 2nd 2011 9:01AM It's kind of funny that two the prizes to help save the planet are a private jet trip with Harrison Ford and a private yacht for the Canne Film Festival. I'm no environmentalist, but aren't these two of the biggest burners and wastes of fossil fuels when it comes to transportation?
Oaksterdam University's Dale Sky Jones: On a Marijuana Mission {AOL Small Business}
Nov 4th 2010 9:49AM I say to each their own. You have one life to live, do what you want with it. You want to huff aerosol cans until your brain turns blue or shoot poison into your face to get rid of wrinkles, by all means, go nuts. I don't drink, smoke, or do drugs, but that's my personal choice. As long as what you do doesn't affect me or anyone else, and only yourself, we're good-to-go. The real questions are, can you do these things without affecting other people, and, if not, are you willing to accept the consequences? Unfortunately for myself, the answers to those questions are "no", and that's why I choose not to use them.
Here's How 3-D is Ruining Movies {Cinematical}
Mar 31st 2010 4:09PM I think we all knew that this day was coming. Be it 3D or virtual reality or whatever else may be in store for us, anything involving the motion picture is going to become three-dimensional. It's the next, and most obvious, step. The problem I have with the additional dimension is that it is all very primitive right now. It is just an annoyance that to watch a movie, it requires the use of special equipment. Sure, they're just glasses, but it is these glasses that are taking away from why we truly attend the cinema. And that is to escape... from reality, pressures of life, disabilities, insecurities, or whatever troubles we may be facing. I hate to put it into that context, but it's the truth. We don't go to the movies for their realism. We go to movies to fantasize, dream, role-play, etc. While I understand that the purpose of 3D is to enhance our emotions, I still can't help but feeling that the glasses are more of a distraction than an attraction.
Quadriplegic Woman Sails Into the Record Books {Lemondrop}
Sep 2nd 2009 10:35AM I always said that if I was in that state of disability, I'd rather be dead, but after seeing what she has accomplished, I'm beginning to rethink my outlook.
Are Landline Phones Only for the Rich? {Luxist}
Oct 3rd 2008 4:16PM Having a landline is really only out of necessity and a matter of economic sense. My wife and I have cell phones. It's just us and we don't need a landline. However, when it comes time to have kids, I think a landline is a must. I think landlines are easier for children to use and a necessity for safety, in case 911 has to ever be dialed. I think a child would have a much easier time using a landline versus a cell phone.
Overrated: Owning a car isolates you from your world {WalletPop}
Sep 11th 2008 12:14PM I recently purchased a bicycle to ride back and forth to work. I only live a few miles away, so it really makes sense. When I purchased the bicycle, the salesperson asked if I would give up my 2008 Ford F350 Diesel. I laughed. Little did I know, he wasn't joking nor amused by my laughter. He said, "I'm serious." I responded with, 'When this bike can pull 12000+ pounds at 70 mph, I'll consider it.'
Damn hippie.
Fan Kicked Out of Yankee Stadium for Daring To Take a Potty Break {Fanhouse MLB Blog}
Sep 2nd 2008 11:38AM You honestly think that he should sue them for kicking him out? That's the problem with this country right there! I'll admit, he wasn't treated right, but does that really justify the need to sue another person? What's wrong with just accepting an apology? Shit happens. Deal with it.
Man buys truck with change, LOTS of change {Autoblog}
Aug 14th 2008 4:31PM If he doesn't trust banks, then why would he bring his money to a bank? And when it comes to buying a vehicle, the only ass I've ever encountered is the salesperson selling the vehicle.
