Felony Franks Causing a Red-Hot Controversy in Chicago {Slashfood}
Jul 23rd 2009 12:01PM This is awesome. It's great to give people a job who wouldn't otherwise have a lot of luck with it, and so long as the food they're serving is clean and tasty, I'd love to buy it - the name is funny and sets up a theme. I hope to check them out some day!
What Can I Get You Folks? - Free Refills {Slashfood}
Jul 8th 2009 12:33PM So long as drinks are priced at five to ten times the actual price of the beverage, I think that the refilling should be permitted. Heck, even if they put a limit on it - up to six free refills! - I would be fine with that, particularly at bar-restaurants or places that serve spicier foods. I also agree with some of the other posters that this sounds kind of rude coming from a server - I can get hating rude customers, but when people ask for refills politely and it's company policy to give them, there's no reason to be irritated with them. Do you get angry at people who slurp down their alcoholic drinks quickly and need refills repeatedly?
I tip for how hard the server worked in combination with how polite and prompt they were. Bad attitudes can lead to me cutting the tip - don't work in a job where you're expected to be polite if you can't pull it off, no matter how fake it has to be.
Engadget's recession antidote: FreeAgent Go hard drive for your Mac! {Engadget}
Apr 2nd 2009 12:18PM I would love this! My Mac's harddrive is nearly full and I don't intend to replace it until the Beauregard dies (That's my Mac...).
The whole recession thing is driving me crazy, because part of me feels like a lot of it is due to the doom-and-gloom in the media and people's perception of things. I personally know that it helped me to get a house, and I have a pretty good job (at least by entry-level standards), so I don't know if the recession is entirely evil.

Engadget's recession antidote: win an HP Pavilion dv5z laptop! {Engadget}
Mar 5th 2009 1:07PM This would be a sweet 25th birthday gift for my husband - his laptop got pretty fried when he took it to Iraq and we haven't gotten him a replacement. He loves AMD processors! He's such a dork, but since my Mac doesn't handle his work with graphics, I'd like to get him a replacement laptop soon.

Engadget's recession antidote: Win a Microsoft PC gaming pack {Engadget}
Feb 16th 2009 1:25PM I am finally starting to get into PC gaming, and it would be AWESOME to have some hardware for it - a new mouse and keyboard would be sweet, and I would love to check out the James Bond game! As to the economy, I'd like to see an approach less interventionist - I'm not a fan of the spend more, tax more style. I think things will iron out at least somewhat on their own, and the rest is up to eliminating that fear-mongering media and government wailing.
Giveaway: 10k Amethyst and Diamond Necklace in Time for Valentine's Day! {Luxist}
Jan 30th 2009 11:51AM I am a big fan of both sapphires and amethyst. Sapphires are the only stones I presently wear - all of my rings and necklaces are sapphires - and I love the deep blue. Amethyst is my birthstone, and I have yet to find a piece for a price I can afford that I honestly like with an amethyst stone. I do think the necklace is gorgeous, though! I am also a big fan of emeralds, but their price is often far more than I can afford.
