Aug 19th 2009 12:05PM The easiest thing to do when traveling anywhere is make a friend there first. Not so hard now that internet is so readily available. The best thing to do is ALWAYS use your very best manners, dress conservatively, know the local currency and a few phrases, know where you are going and how to get back to your sleeping quarters. Stay away from isolated places unless you are very certain that it is safe.

Mar 29th 2009 11:20AM American, Russian, Israeli, Brits, come on people we are talking about YOUNG SERVICEMEN. They DRINK, they train and they FIGHT, they make statements like "trained to kill" because that is how they go into battle without freezing in sheer terror. I speak as a mother of 4 sons in law and 2 sons all multiple combat vets. No one should EVER put 60 of these young men anywhere close to a plane taking them on vacation without proper preparation. 3 of mine were home for Christmas I speak from years of experience.

The appropriateness or lack thereof regarding Mrs. Obama's attire is easily referenced. The address to the joint session of Congress eloquently presented by President Obama was attended my a number of ladies of dignitary status all of whom observed the proper Etiquette for attending the House or Senate Chambers. Apparently Mrs. Obama's mother or her formal education was lax regarding the instruction of observance of Etiquette. Hopefully, her social graces will improve with time.

This town is FULL of broken hearts because the VERY YOUNG Marine wives don't do real well being away from home and family. WAIT until his first deployment is over and he gets a pay raise or two. There are NO JOBS for you near any military base. YOU NEED TO GO TO COLLEGE and pay attention in English class. SEMPER FI
