Dec 2nd 2009 4:23PM For many years the bears at the Memphis Zoo waved to everyone who threw peanuts (and/or other food they purchased from the zoo) at them. Actually, they weren't waving, they were just trying to catch some of those peanuts.
The zoo was completely revamped some years ago, and today all of the animals live in their own customized environment. The last time I was there I went to see the pandas, who have their own quarters, situated by a building where visitors can see a film about how these beautiful bears live in the wild. If you're into zoos, ours is one of the best in the US - if not the best. In fact, I think the Memphis Zoo was recently rated as such. Do our bears still wave? I don't know, but I do know that they were the first on their block to do so!

Feb 25th 2009 2:23PM Jamie Oliver was definitely a chef (very young and very famous in his home country) before he was ever on US TV. I just wish someone on his production staff or at the Food Network would get him to wash his hands and clean his nails before he goes on-camera and works with the food. They're so dirty that I have to wonder if people get sick when they eat at his restaurant - not from the food, but the germs under those nails!
