Vanishing America: The Drive-In Theater {Gadling}
Jun 4th 2012 9:58AM We had a drive in that was awesome! First, it was located on the side of a hill. Second, the area was graded with the slope of the hill for the drive lanes, and parking spots that were graded to aim toward the screen. All was asphalt. There was a gap near the gates we could take our bikes in during the day when no one was around, and we would ride off the hill over about 15 ramps on the way down!
Then we turned up all the speakers near the side and back of the lot. We had a couple of good spots to watch from outside the fence. What good old days and memories! Also, this theater had an underground concessions and projection stand, rising just enough on the downhill side to project the movie. The theater was sold, went to showing '70's porn - which would barely garner an R rating today, with many storms and lightning strikes on-screen at 'certain' times (lol!) Sorry to say it didn't make it past the VCR era, which is what really killed the drive-ins. Today, it is only a flea market area with no screen.

Should Hunting Be Allowed In America's National Parks? {Gadling}
May 31st 2012 6:20PM I live near the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Managed hunting has been allowed there already. There are over 300,000 acres, and the European Black Boar is considered a very destructive invasive, and unchecked species living in the park. With the introduction of Elk into the park again, I also believe hunting that species will be allowed in the future. As remote as some areas are, the officials at the park do a great job of managing the wildlife and visitors to prevent accidents. All backwoods hunt areas are well-posted. I would also say the rangers do an outstanding job of protecting non-hunted species like the black bears from illegal hunting and poaching.
As far as Yellowstone or the Grand Canyon - No.

Feb 3rd 2012 8:08AM If you REALLY wanna give your female loved one a perfect nighttime gift to wear, take it from me, and I'll bet most women will agree... Warm fuzzy pajamas. Full Pajama Shirt and pants. Just stop short of buying sweats. Add house shoes and or slippers. The only question is if the PJ's need to have footies. Take my advice and I'll almost bet she will come out of these faster than the lacy things... right ladies? (Ladies will tell you not all lacy things fit, give comfort, or warmth after your four minutes of... LOL!)

The Country's Biggest Tourist Trap: South of the Border {Gadling}
Jul 18th 2011 5:07PM Of course it's a tourist trap. That's exactly what this place and 10,000+ other places along the roadways were supposed to be, back when your pappy's '65 Rocket Olds, Eldorado, or Road King and a ribbon of highways were the way to go anywhere on vacation or any road trip. Now that Route 66 and many other 2-lanes have been replaced by multi-lane interstates, and every fast food joint you can think of is conveniently located at every exit, it's nice to know you can take your kids to a real old fashioned roadside attraction, albeit a dump (or not?) , and explain about all the by-gone days when traveling was as much the vacation as was the destination. Half the fun was just getting there... These places have all but disappeared, so enjoy it before the next super mall replaces it. ,,,and before the kids make you drive past for the next Taco Bell.
