Tenants of Manhattan Complex Irate Over Mid-Lease Rent Hikes {AOL Real Estate}
May 20th 2013 11:39AM Can you think of any other way a landlord can tear down a complex and rebuild a new one and charge much more rent? Rent control becomes a rhing of the past. When you want to change the areas 'complextion' tear it down and rebuild and cater to the wealthy. Investment plus depreciation plus nuch higher rents equals large profits.

Dec 21st 2012 4:30PM Now that all of you 'gun experts' told off the folks that do not know automatic from semi-automatic from whatever, get off your high horse and answer a valid question. 'How would you stop mass killings by individuals that obtain weapons of any kind and kill many. Stop the online bickering and use some common sense and try and address the problem...
Adam Welch's Exploding Glass Table 'a Total Mystery,' He Says {AOL Real Estate}
Aug 27th 2012 5:06PM I have 'all' glass tables in my house for years (plate glass not safety glass). Dining room, Kitchen table, Coffee and end table in my living room and family rooms. NEVER had a problem. I did buy a replacement gass top for my patio and from the hot outside from the store, brought it into the house (air conditioned), leaned it against the wall and it exploded into a million pieces. The patio table top glass is safety glass. that means when it shatters, it will crumble into a million pieces just like the door glass on an automobile or back window on a car. Extreme heat to cold or cold to heat or high pitched noise like a siren form a fire truck will do the same thing. Companies tend to use safety glass so you will not cut yourself if it brakes. Give me 1/4 to 5/8 thick inch plate glass anytime over the safety glass if you want it to last...
Las Vegas Homeowners Association Scandal Claims 4th Victim {AOL Real Estate}
Mar 31st 2012 10:13AM Being an HOA Board President (on three boards at one time), for over 20 years, we NEVER had the horror stories that I have read in these postings. HOA board members are homeowners that volunteer for the positionj on the board and insure that the properties are kept up to the standards of the Rules and Regulations. If lawns are totally burned out with dead plants the home owner would be notified of the violation. If the homeowner took the 'I do not care' approach the board would hire a landscaper and get the property back to a reasonable appearance. The cost would be levied against the property and the cost would be on the property owed to the association until the property was sold and the 'bill' was satisfied or the property would not get through escrow. The last thing that was ever considered was to lein the hone and forclose. All HOA boards and their members are not power hungry animals waiting to crush a homeowner. We worked with our homeowners especially in this economy. We understand circumstances of unemployment and other personal issues that affect a homeowner and how it can financially effect the property. Our goal as homeowners and HOA board members is to maintain property value and insure an attractive neighborhood for 'all' homeowners. If any homeowner does not like 'rules and regulation' that would keep a neighborhood up to standards then a neighborhood with these conditions are not for you. Some people like to park cars and boats on their front yard or let their grass and plants die or let their roof rot off the home or have 10 barking pit bulls in their back yard. these people need to live in a neighborhood that allows this type of living. It won't cut it in an HOA neighborhood.
84 Percent of Small Businesses Say U.S. Economy is on Wrong Track {AOL Small Business}
Jul 12th 2011 5:50PM Every day I read the posts from individuals that do nothing but add bitching as well as 'this is what needs to be done' in order to get the economy and this country back on track. If this or that would have bben done, everything would be OK. Well wake America. We have a President that inherited a 10 Trillion Deficit from Mr. Bush before he left office. Mr. Obama added only 4 Trilliam to the deficit, if my math is correct since we are @ 14.3 Trillion in th hole. So why is everyone knocking the President. If we had McCain and Palin in the White House we would be at 19% unemployment and China would really own us. Everyone needs to get behind the man and quit the bitching and try to get your congressmen, you know, the mindless shits you sent to congress to 'Represent' you, to get off their asses and start getting the job done.They need to focus on the good og Americans and not the big interest tickets that are going to make donations to keep them in office to do nothing. If they can't get the job done, then someone else needs to go to Washington to get it done. Quit blaming the President. He is only one person. Congress is made up of 'MANY' who seem to pass the buck and get nothing done. How about starting a campaign to put everyone in congress on the same healthcare that we have. How about puting everyone that leaves congress on Social ecurity and not give them 100% of their salary. Lets make the playing field equal. Lets see the comments on these subjects and see how it can get done. Now thats a start to reduct the spending in Congress with our tax money. Heres a good one that we should not over look. How about stopping the Billions of dollars we send to foreign countries for aid and military assistance. How about using the Billions for Americans for schools, job cration, building bridges, roads, fix infrastructure, medical assistance, help the homeless and the hungry. Do we need a Tornado to do a telethon to raise money to take of our own people? Seems we have to since we did it for Haiti. Is Somalia next because of their drought?. Come on America, lets get moving. Time is getting shorter and shorter before we become the 2nd or 3rd world country................
Survey Says: Will Starting a Business Make You Happy? {AOL Small Business}
Jun 8th 2011 5:12PM I have been in business for 21 years. I built my business from a failing business I purchased and never looked back. From a 200k business to a 1.5 million business is quite good. Over the past 3 years I have seen a change in a 3 to 5 mile radius of my business plus with the foreclosures and bad economy, my business has dropped 60%. I ran my business with 4 employees and myself and my wife doing the payroll, record keeping and everything else on a part time basis. Now that I've turned 65, the thought of retirement looks good. I have some good decisions in the past about investments and have a nest egg to retire with. I did my own investing after loosing almost everything with so called investmet professionals. My sons want to have their own business and since I have 2 locations we are currently looking at ( in better areas) and rents are extremely low, this may be a good time to get started again. As far as the survey that small business is making more in 2011 then 2010, that could be true in some cases. Wth all of he businesses going bankrupt or owners retiring, yes it is possible for a new small business to open and fill the gap in certain areas. But in the overall picture, the article is 80% BS.

10 Most Bizarre (Yet Real) Job Interview Questions {AOL Jobs}
Jan 7th 2011 5:59PM I went for an interview at a bank on wall Street and was asked by the personnel manager and Data Processing Asst. VP, " where and what do you want to do in 5 years'. My answer was ' Be in the top floor office and be the CEO/President of this company". Needless to say, i did not get the job. I did get a position with a large consulting firm in data processing and my first project to oversee was the processing of tax returns for the City of New York and one of the processing facilities was the bank that would not hire me. The person in charge of the department I had to interface with was the Asst VP who interviewed me. he now had to report to me on this project. What comes around, goes around.
