Le Paulee Grand Burgundy Tasting in SF {Luxist}
Feb 12th 2008 11:26PM It's $300 for the mid-day tasting, not the evening. The evening costs $1400 (incl. the mid-day tasting). Quite a difference, don't you think?
Australia's Most Expensive Menu {Luxist}
Feb 12th 2008 1:04PM "1999 J.J. Prum Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling from Mosel"
First, the last 3 words are unnecessary. All J.J. Prum wines are Riesling from the Mosel. And, J.J. Prum is prop. abbr. as Joh. Jos. PrĂ¼m.
Second, instead of giving us those three words, you needed to say one of these Kabinett, Spatlese, Auslese, Auslese Goldkapsel, etc. Right now, we have no idea what wine you're talking about (is it off-dry or a dessert wine?).
This link illustrates what I mean: http://www.cellartracker.com/pickproducer.asp?szSearch=Joh.+Jos.+Pr%FCm+Wehlener+Sonnenuhr&Sort=&Method=&PickWine=on
(A check of the restaurant's wine list shows it to be the Auslese, a $26US/btl wine on release. The Jasper Hill might have been $40...these are not expensive, and not at the level you would you expect for a $900w/Wines dinner.)
Third, these two wines (whatever the second one actually is...it's not likely to be a rarity) are Not Impressive and do not convey or indicate you're having the Most Expensive Meal in Australia. Despite what the article you pasted from says.
So instead, tell us more about the meal - I don't see how they get it to be $900 from what you mention, unless it's very expensive caviar.
Funny how so few people opt for this menu if it's truly "unbeatable cuisine". "(A) handful of diners each month fork out the four-figure sum" does not sound like the Steve Plotnicki's of the world are making this is an Elite Foodie Destination.
Finally, do we know for Fact that this is Australia's Most Expensive Menu? What kind of research did you do to check this? I mean, What if you're Wrong?! :)
Girl Scout cookie time! {ParentDish}
Jan 25th 2008 12:21PM Perhaps you should first READ THE INGREDIENTS label. Note you find PHOs (trans fat) and high fructose corn syrup, and even some palm oil. These are Unhealthy Ingredients.
Shame on the Girl Scouts for STILL selling such products when childhood obesity and diabetes is out-of-control.

Zalto Wine Glasses {Luxist}
Jan 3rd 2008 4:50PM I've tried the entire line of Zalto glasses. They're definitely worth the money.
Kracher Grabs Guinness Title for Largest Bottle of Wine {Luxist}
Dec 28th 2007 1:03AM "...equivalent of 69,000 glasses of wine." was obviously calculated by the mathematically-challenged. (Or do you think a glass of wine is about 1/4 oz?)
The actual number (based on a fairly typical, but not universal, two ounce pour for a glass of dessert wine) is 8,284 glasses.
And on an extremely sad note, Alios Kracher Jr. died recently:

Sports Black Eyes, Popeye and the Media {Blog Maverick}
Dec 16th 2007 11:17PM You are so right, Mark!
I cannot believe the amount of front page coverage the New York Times gave to this story. Like it was the Biggest News Story of the Year?! It should have been how the Democrats just sold-out the American People on the Farm Bill; another Six Years of Americans Gaining More Weight, Becoming more Obese and more Diabetics. Woo-hoo!
Unlucky 13: Scary recipe ingredients {That's Fit}
Oct 31st 2007 12:11PM My god, this is so misguided!
You want people to cook! Most of those ingredients are just fine - if they are the quality version of them.
I score this the Incredibly Dumb Food/Health post of the week. Congratulations!
$1.99 chardonnay better than others in California {Slashfood}
Sep 15th 2007 2:33AM This post SO hurts my eyes.
"I'm not a white wine guy, but for $1.99 it has to be worth a try" - you mean just like owning a Yugo was worth a try? Just like invading Iraq was worth a try? Com'on Bob, what do you think the chances are of you getting a bottle (of the millions made) that tasted as good as the ones the judges tasted?
And to Commenter #9, above, "Why pay $60 for a crappy CA chard, when you can pay $2 and send a message to the overpriced CA wine companies?" - you're joking, right? How does buying a taco from a street vendor send a message to the owners of a one-star Michelin restaurant?
