Mar 3rd 2013 2:00PM Depending on state laws there are different ways of changing rules in communities with homeowner associations. If the rules about flags are in the declaration or the by-laws you might need a lawyer to draft the change and, depending if the rule is contained in the declaration, the community must vote and the vote must be in favor of the change before it can be implemented and then it must be filed with the town or city and if in the by laws the board must inform the homeowners of the plan to make a change and wait for comments before the change can take place, you don't just decide to make a change and do it.

Feb 28th 2013 1:06PM When you buy in a community with a homeowners association you agree to abide by the rules, if you don't like the rules buy elsewhere. I have no sympathy for this homeowner who wants special treatment.

Oct 8th 2012 3:14PM Why isn't the city being sued for selling the cemetery for unpaid taxes? Where I live, an abandoned property can't be sold without the city/town doing a search for any heirs first and that includes placing notices in newspapers, someone dropped the ball here.

Where I live in the northeast, you would have little chance of erecting a 2000 sq ft in a residential area for any reason, there is a % of lot coverage for buildings and driveways combined as well as house size and height restrictions.
