Dec 17th 2011 7:28PM I think if an animal is old ..the less you do ..the better...My old cats died at home in their beds..one was 20 the other was 17..I had fluids for them because that is all that was left to do...kidneys eventually take old animals..I believe they died peacefully at home ..and not in an environment they hated...

Dec 17th 2011 7:23PM stick your dog in the tub and put a warm wet washcloth to its glands...they can teach you how to expell those glands so they don't get infected...go to a clinic offered by the human society or local shelter for help...there is help...

Dec 17th 2011 7:19PM Anesthesia is a risk to all animals...an older animal even more...why would i subject my old animal to something that he might not need..My dog had a big tumor on her side...we had it removed because the cells were not conclusive to cancer..so I followed a vets advice we had it removed...she was 15..I believed she started to slow down the following months ..almost made it to her 16 birthday...Was it really worth the risk of the surgery when she only lived a year latter...to me it would have been just as kindhearted to let her live the last year with no surgery..
