New York's Most Unique (Or Dangerous) Subway Station {Gadling}

Jun 29th 2012 12:30PM It's got to be just dumb luck that nobody has been severely injured be this engineering or construction mistake though I'm more inclined to believe the mistake was in the construction than design. The rise of individual steps varies from one set of stairs to another but all steps in the stairway must be consistent with the first step. Once a person takes that first step they're hardwired to its height for the remainder of that flight of stairs.
Bloomberg should take some of the city's funds he spends on his personal crusades and fix the problem.

Pilot Holds Plane for Grandfather Of Murdered Toddler {AOL Travel News}

Jan 14th 2011 12:27PM My hat is off to the pilot and SWA. As for the TSA agent or agents or who ever. I'm proud of you all . It takes guts to prove that one of the three biggest lies of the century really is just that. You know the one,"I'm from the goverment, I'm here to help".

10 Obsolete Jobs We Love {AOL Jobs}

Nov 7th 2010 3:54AM THE REASON YOU HAVE TROUBLE FINDING WORK CAN'T BE THAT YOU'RE OVER 40. REMEMBER WE HAVE LAWS AGAINST AGE DISCRIMINATION. IF YOU BELIEVE THAT I HAVE A BRIDGE FOR SALE. THERE ARE SO MANY WAYS COMPANIES GET AROUND HIRING DISCRIMINATION LAWS IT'S DISGUSTING. WORSE THAN THAT IS THAT ALL THE REST OF THE LABOR LAWS ARE THERE TO PROTECT THE EMPLOYER NOT THE EMPLOYEE.
AFTER ALMOST 30 YEARS AS AN INDUSTRIAL MECHANIC AND MILLRIGHT MY BOSS DECIDED IT WAS MORE IMPORTANT TO GO GET A CUP OF COFFEE THAN FOOT THE LADDER I WAS ON WITHOUT TELLING ME HE WAS LEAVING. END RESULT A 20 FOOT FALL, 2 MONTHS IN THE HOSPITAL AND REHAB HOSPITAL AND 3 1/2 YEARS BEFORE I WAS FIT FOR WORK.
MY WONDERFUL EMPLOYER HAD NO COMP INSURANCE AND SINCE THE COMP LAWS DON'T ALLOW A WORER TO SUE THEIR BOSS ALL HE WAS PENALIZED WAS A SLIGHTLY HIGHER INSURANCE PREMIUM AND INSIGNIFICANT FINE FROM NYS WHILE I ENDED UP LOOSING OVER 3 YEARS PAY. SURE THERE WAS A LAW SUIT BUT IN THE END THE LAWYERS WHO WERE GOING TO HELP ME ALSO SCREWED ME WITH A SETTELMENT WHICH BARELY COVERED THE MEDICAL EXPENCES. NOW AT 53 I FIND WORK HERE AND THERE FOR 90 DAYS. ON DAY 90 IT'S ALWAYS THE SAME SONG " WE'RE SORRY BUT WE DON'T FEEL THAT THIS IS GOING TO WORK OUT" WHICH LEAVS THE DOOR OPEN FOR HIRING THE YOUNGER WORKER.
WHAT DOES ALL THIS HAVE TO DO WITH OUTSOURCING WORK? SIMPLE MONEY IS POWER. LAWS AND REGULATIONS ARE WRITTEN BY PEOPLE WHO HAVE MONEY AND POWER AND PLAN ON KEEPING IT THAT WAY. FACE IT THERE ISN'T A DAMN THING THOSE OF US ON THE DIRTY END OF THE STICK ARE EVER GOING TO BE ABLE TO DO TO CHANGE IT. YOU CAN REVOLT ALL YOU WANT BUT IN THE END IT WILL CHANGE NOTHING.
"MEET THE NEW BOSS, SAME AS THE OLD BOSS"

Little Trooper {MyDaily}

Aug 22nd 2010 12:14PM Where are all the PETA crack pots to complain about Stingray abuse. The poor kid must have violated some animal right by not yielding the right of way to the fish's barb.
Maybe they're planing a party like when Steve Irwin was killed by a Stingray.and they said he got what was coming to him for harrasing the fish.

US Botany Professor Detained in Cairo Airport with Cache of Weapons {AOL Travel News}

May 15th 2010 10:30PM While it's true that a firearm which the passenger has no access to is not a threat the issue here is that it this guy was transporting them illegally and into another country.
People with good intentions don't try to sneak weapons into another country. If he owned them legally and had the proper authorization to import guns why were they hidden and not declared to the airline.
I've traveled to many places within the country to hunt and fish. Some of these places going in without at least one gun for safety is to say the least not very bright so your guns travel with you, IN AIRLINE APPROVED CASES AND DECLAIRED. If you need to fly with a carrier which doesn't allow firearms in checked baggage you have them shipped between two Federal Firearm License dealers not in hidden containers.
This guy deserves everything he has coming to him.

10-plus ways you can lose money by doing it yourself {WalletPop}

Apr 19th 2010 1:10AM Also sounds like the writer has zero hands on ability. I also got the impression he was looking down his nose at those of us who do.
Those that can do,do. Those that can't talk trash about those who can to make themselves feel superior.

Jobless Benefits Restored for 200,000-Plus {Politics Daily}

Apr 16th 2010 9:55PM I started working when I was 11 years old under the misguided belief that if a person works hard, treats others as they would themselves wish to be treated and keep looking ahead they would be successful. WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP THAT WAS.
Fourty some years latter I know that the harder you work the more of another persons load you'll end up carrying while they find a way to take credit for what you've done. Treating others as you would care to be treated is a character flaw and a weakness to be exployted by coworkIn a round about way my point is although I agree with you in general you missed one large bunch of trash.

1 The Washington Dirt Bags who do nothing to protect American jobs from being sent offshore and then extend unemployment benifits to a fraction of the people they screwed. If they need to do something to make it look like they care why don't they ship the unemployment to Bombay and the jobs back where they came from?
2 These same crooks have figured out that we will extend them a second chance to screw us over because we would want a second chance if we goof. This is a weakness on our part because these "leaders" didn't goof at our expence they planed the screw job for their own gain.
3 We shouldn't be looking to the future withthese "leaders".We should be looking behind us to the knife they are stickingin our back and see that in November they are all filing claims.
To all the idiots who are complaining about the unemployed, do somthing about it and send the SOBs who allow jobs to go away and illegals to drag down wages packing at election time.

Teammate of Killed Luger Withdraws From Vancouver Games {Fanhouse Olympics Blog}

Feb 14th 2010 11:22AM And I quote "competition isn't about complacency, its about performing your best and winning at any mental or physical cost, and lastly sportsmanship".
Dude you are what's wrong with sports programs. Sportsmanship is the only thing that is important, winning is the icing on the cake. Any man or woman can hold their head up when they've won but to loose with dignity accepting the fact that you or your team did their best with dignity is sportsmanship and a true measure of character. This is Olympic competition not pitched battle for your life so while you're introducing your kids to steroids and potty training them with a hockey stick try to imagine this. By withdrawing from competition in memory of his friend this man has shown more character than you could ever understand. He sacrificed four years of his life for a shot at an Olympic Medal which he has given up to honor his friend and in doing so honors himself.
I feel sorry for the poor kids you're going to coach. Instead of building character, a sense of fair play and decency you'll be turning out a collection of people who's only goal in life is to get what they want with no regard of how their actions will impact and hurt others.
