Priciest Golfing in the Hamptons {Luxist}
Jul 3rd 2006 9:28PM Just because this is the most expensive club in the world doesn't mean that they are good neighbors. There is starting to be a groundswell in the Shinnecock Hills community surrounding the clubs for the billionaires (including Sebonack, National and Shinnecock - some of the best courses in the world). It turns out the clubs pay less than 1/10th the taxes of people in the communities about $ 1000 per acre while homes pay $ 10,000 to $ 30,000 per acre just down the street. This is causing great strain on the local school community which was forced to make cutbacks in order to pass its budget.
