Severe Weather Causes Airport Hangar to Collapse, Trapping 70 {AOL Travel News}

Mar 31st 2011 8:48PM Interesting perspective. In 2004, all 3 hurricanes that hit the peninsula, hit Orlando.
Only one of the 3 hit Tampa! There are still roofs in Orlando that have not been repaired from 2004!

Dads Want Workplace Flexibility, Too, Expert Says {ParentDish}

Mar 30th 2011 4:40PM While many women and corporate America may CLAIM to be warming up to the idea, the reality is very different. The legal system and many women only give lip service to the idea of men having equal time and responsibility with the children. There is still the expectation that Dads are supposed to provide the paycheck, even work TWO jobs when necessary, while Mom works only part-time, so "she can be with the little ones". Just look at the banner at the top of this article: "If Momma ain't happy..". I've never heard "If DADDY ain't happy..."

Five visitation travel tips for divorced dads {Gadling}

Feb 7th 2011 10:55AM My wife is the liar and evidently, her attorney was the cut-throat. Even though she had an arrest record for domestic battery, and the deputy tesified on my behalf, this time, the judge believed her false allegations. I was denied access to the kids for a full month and now have limited access. So, I know what you are feeling. But, until you women are willing to fight for TRUE EQUALITY, then, some of you will suffer the same injustice that divorced dads have been suffering.

Five visitation travel tips for divorced dads {Gadling}

Feb 7th 2011 10:48AM While the point of the article was how to make the most of the travel, everyone is ignoring the "elephant in the room". Why is it that (in MOST cases) the Dad is the parent who has to be away from the kids? If you women truly want equality, if you truly want Dads to be more involved with the kids, then, you and the system need to provide equality to Dads. If you truly believe that it is "about the kids", then, the "custodial parent" needs to bend over backwards so that the other parent can have as much time and influence in the kids' lives. To behave any other way makes most of you hypocrites.

I keep my hair relatively short. The reason I harp on this point is that I doubt anyone on this forum would support the coach if he required LONG hair. They make arguments about "team-unity", discipline, self-sacrifice and following the rules.
Well, I do not believe them. I think they are lying to us and themselves. They support the coach because THEY agree with his value of "short hair". If they really believed all that they wrote, they would still support the coach if he required long hair or tatoos or "goose-stepping". Note - no one has yet to respond to that question.

Answer the question: would YOU support the coach if he required LONG hair?

RE: your son's team decision to dye their hair was THEIR decision, not the coach's! Big difference! But, even that has its limits. What if the team decided that they all had to get a tatoo? Would you have supported that decision/requirement?
Your thinking is out of balance! You are rationalizing instead of reasoning.

Jan 8th 2011 12:19PM Out of respect, Belechik would never ask Brady to cut his hair.
Would you support Bilechik if he required all of the players to grow their hair long like Brady?
The more I read on this forum, the more clear it becomes that you all do not support conformity to rules or "team-unity", you support conformity to YOUR values!

We are not talking about Obama. Stick to the issue. The fact that you ignored my question and challenge tells me that you admit you lost the argument.
Answer my question: would you support the coach if he required LONG hair?

Technically, YES! And this has been advocated by many. A girl still faces a risk of harm should she be hit in her groin area. (Rumor has it that some girls do wear some sort of protection. Obviously, it does not have to be a "cup".) However, there is a balance of concerns here. The risk to a girl is much less. All of her "valuables" are internal while the boy has his "valuables" more exposed. Their anatomies are different. And, on the same note, a boy is not required to wear a bra because his anatomy does not present the need. (Unless he is obese.) If we take the equality argument too far, should we install urinals in girls' restrooms or remove them from the boys' restrooms? Yes - nature does discriminate based on sex and our policies should reflect that reality.
But, your point ignores a major concern here. Again, think "balance". A policy that applies only while actually participating is one thing. Such as "no jewelry". All players on same team must wear same uniform. Because, after the game is over, the player can put on their own clothers and put the jewelry back on. This kid can not grow his hair back after the game. A policy requiring him to keep his long hair in a ponytail during the game would be reasonable. I'll ask you: would YOU support the coach if he required LONG hair?

(1) Nothing BS or baloney about fairness, justice, or equality.
If the girls are not required to have short hair, then, why should the boys?
If the girls are not required to have "uniform" hairstyles, then why are the boys required to?
(2) You are a self-righteous bigot. You do not know if this kid is "ill-mannered". He may in fact be the most polite and rule-abiding player on the team. He just strongly disagrees with a rule and he is using lawful means to defend himself. In other words, He and his parents are FOLLOWING THE RULES and are now demanding that the school and coach follow the rules. If anyone is advocating "rule-breaking", it is YOU!!! Unless the policy applies to the girls, the policy is illegal --- end of discussion. Get over yourself.
(3) Your guess is correct. I do not have long hair or tatoos or nose-rings. Do not care for any of that. But, this is a FREE country and I frown on others imposing their personal values on others. I did have restrictions on my own children. Boys and girls could have long hair, but, they had to keep it clean, had to keep it out of their eyes (girls as well), and had to keep it combed. No tatoos or body-piercings (other than ear-rings) until they turn 18. But, I have that right. The coach does not have the right to dictate ANY policy he/she wishes, even if the purpose is "team-unity"! What if the coach required that the playes all attend the same church every Sunday morning? Would you support that?
If the coach required the players to keep their long pulled back in a pony-tail, I could support that.
(4) You wrote: "NOBODY should have the right to sue 'public schools' (ie: TAXPAYERS) for anything. If a school does something 'wrong', then its up to criminal authorities to sort it out, not ambulance chasing ACLU types representing LOSERS"
So, if a school discriminates against blacks or whites or Asians, against Jews or Christians or Muslims or Rastafarians, then, they do not have the right to sue? Where did you get your education? Moron University?
