Hands-On: Rolls-Royce Ghost is 100% Roller so far {Autoblog}
Jun 4th 2009 12:40PM Excellent article. I read every word. If I might be just a tad persnickety, the metaphor "swimming in that golden pool" is perhaps a touch off. It projected an image I'm certain you didn't mean.

Thank you folks, I'll be here all week.
Engineering students from India create air-powered motorcycle {Autoblog Green}
May 9th 2009 10:27PM I suppose you need to keep your replies short and to the point, since that peddle powered PC of yours uses so much of your energy.
What's with all the hate on engineering students doing something clever?
I don't think they released a press statement claiming this would save the universe.
Even Better than the Real Thing: Retro Gullwing still built in Germany, but with V8 power {Autoblog}
May 7th 2009 4:32PM Oh, I'd hate to see it modernized. I'm getting really tired of the retro thing.
But some design cue that tells me it's not an original, but this very cool new thing.
What would you feel if someone said "Wow, awesome car. Is it real?" Would you try to explain "no, but it's better in many respects...." or would you just say "yeah."?
But just thinking out loud. I do think at least top five best car designs ever. And I'm getting close to a point of being able to buy a 190sl. No not the same. But enough DNA to be gorgeous.
Even Better than the Real Thing: Retro Gullwing still built in Germany, but with V8 power {Autoblog}
May 7th 2009 1:48PM OK, I'm not hating on this, and it's obviously an icon of automotive design. And I would buy one in a heartbeat if I was in that demographic (rich enough!).
I'm just wondering if it should look a little different. Less literal and more tribute. If it looks so much like the original, does it seem you're trying to fool people? Like kit cars do - just, you know, good.
Or am I missing the changes?
Chrysler launches May incentives worth up to $6,000 {Autoblog}
May 6th 2009 11:24AM They don't lower the MSRP because once you lower prices it's very hard to get them back up to previous levels - this is true for coffee, pizza, lawnmowers or cars. (if Starbucks lowered their prices to 1 buck for a promotion, people would assign that value to their product. When the price goes up again, it would seem expensive). Rebates keep the MSRP where they want it, yet still allow price sensitive shopping.
And to the financing charge: that's only true if you need to finance a car for 60-72 months. Some people don't do that. I probably wouldn't even at zero financing, just because it means my car would be upside down for awhile, which would bug me.
The big question for me is, if I spend that much on a new Jeep, will I be willing to risk it on trails?
Hey, Bargain-Hunters: Cigar Prices already Hiked {Luxist}
Mar 28th 2009 1:06PM I get confused easily, so maybe you can explain. Didn't you say before that this tax works out to about 40 cents per cigar? Aren't cigar smokers supposed to be, you know, big swinging dicks? Tough uber-capitalists, showing off their success? Do they really care about an extra 40 cents? Do the rest of us care if they have to pay it?
And why is this a Luxist post? I thought the point of this blog was exuberant consumption. Million dollar yachts and what not.
This seems political and very very petty.
Miami Cigar Manufacturers Brace for SCHIP {Luxist}
Mar 4th 2009 11:58PM Boo hiss! I read this site to avoid political crap. This is just annoying propaganda. If you feel the need to write about cigars, go for it. Personally, I think you're about 10 years behind the curve on that. But drop the politics. Plenty of other places to hear that .

Jul 14th 2008 11:00AM You know the old parable how the Americans, when they discovered that pens didn't work in space spent millions developing a zero-g pen? And the Russians? They used a pencil.
Anyhoo....Over in Europe they're riding trains. Cool trains. Fast trains. Profitable trains.
We're working on plans for hooking up cars with wheels on the roof so they can ride the world's most expensive ski lift.
