Jun 8th 2010 10:23PM Taxes are the lowest they've been in 50 years, and US taxes are almost the lowest of any economically developed country. And the "upper classes" pay even less than most people in this country (as a percentage).
So it's also possible that Jim Thorpe is just a cheating crook who got caught refusing to pay even his small share.
Either way, I find that I am once again annoyed with your political intrusions into this escapist web site. When you write like this you sound like an overeager puppy who just wants the rich people to be his friends. How pathetic is that?

I'm guessing you think the government should have done less, but then you'd still have this 10 cents on the dollar liquidation of assets, there would just be more worthless assets.

Jul 29th 2009 11:30PM Lots of people buying the Prius are already "shopping down" - they could afford to pay more, and probably did for their last car. The fact that the Honda is thousands cheaper yet is probably not a huge incentive.
