Mar 28th 2011 11:46AM Best ever veg burger - Morningstar Farm Grillers (many different types) and for crumbled faux-beef in recipes, Quorn tops them all. Those who complain about bad tasting veggie burgers simply haven't had the right type yet!
Outrageously Expensive Socks by Rodarte {Luxist}
Oct 23rd 2010 10:19AM People may scoff at the cost of these socks but if they actually considered the LABOR that goes into truly handmade socks plus the cost of the exquisite materials, they may better understand. Each pair of handknit (not crocheted) socks contains as many as 30,000 individual stitches and could take as long as 15-20 hours to complete. Even at approximately minimum wage you begin to see. But, in this case with couture designers, I doubt the original creator even received that minimum wage. It's a fallacy that the socks could not be washed. Not MACHINE washed yes, but such fibers do lend themselves to cool/cold water hand washing and would do just fine. While, I agree no one in their right mind would pay so much for a pair of socks, the price DOES reflect fine craftsmanship, materials, and perhaps a stitchery artist who understands the economic VALUE of their work.

Hot Seat: Palin and Clinton Supporters {Politics Daily}
Aug 30th 2008 6:17PM Palin's nomination is an insult to women everywhere. Given she's only met McCain a couple times, do you think she'd entrust the raising of her children to him if something happened to her and her husband? If not, why does he so flippantly (or is it Rove???) think she could take care of all the people of the whole nation should something happen to him! The only thing this nomination guarantees is....the lock-step vote of the NRA, the Right to Life, the "love it or leave it" crowd and others who mindlessly do what their told by similar groups.
Wal-Mart Mean to Underprivileged Kids? {Fanhouse NFL Blog}
May 16th 2008 9:30AM Walmart = social service drain on communities because so many employees need to supplement their wages with health services, food pantries, clothing, and more etc. Walmart = drain on governmental services such as roads, trash, police calls (look at the number of murders nationwide in their parking lots not to mention more minor offenses!), sewers, tax breaks, etc. Walmart = drain on local economy when they ship all the profits to Arkansas every day so monies doesn't recirculate within the area it was generated. Walmart = sick people given 40% of the 90% of employees covered by health insurance get their insurance through a spouse's insurance and Walmart plans have such a high deductible they basically cover nothing. Walmart = shoddy products that do not last. Walmart = the traditional "company store"...slave there, buy there, eat there, bank there, get glasses there, get routine medical clinic care there, even vacation there (overnight RV parking)! Although our family has an employee discount you will NEVER see us shopping there. We support our LOCAL small businesses no matter how higher the initial prices. The costs to our family, city, our society are simply far too high no matter how they might try to temper their evil with a pittance of donations to community charities (where their employees are often the charitable receipients!).
