Multigenerational Homes: Real Estate's Next Big Thing as More Families Share a Space {AOL Real Estate}
Nov 26th 2012 11:04AM I have a somewhat small house, under 900 sq. ft. and really not made for 4 adults. When my son got married they were supposed to move out yet they're still here. My daughter-in-law was very pregnant (not my son's) and gave birth 4 days later. Neither have a job and only have food stamps as an income. My wife and I are carrying the load as I'm working overtime to help support them also.
We feel that they've tried to take over OUR home with friends stopping by at all hours of the day and night. It's all of the little things that add up. I'm lucky to find a place in the refidgerator to put any of my food in, the lack of privacy in the house with thin walls or any other incovenience that you can think of.
Multigenerational Homes: Real Estate's Next Big Thing as More Families Share a Space {AOL Real Estate}
Nov 25th 2012 11:34PM I have my son and daughter-in-law living with me and my wife. Frankly, I can't wait for them to get out as we want our house back! If I want to run around my house naked, It can't as there is no real privacy here.
Stressed Out? Try A Walk In A Cemetery {Gadling}
Sep 20th 2012 9:44AM Walking in cemetaries has gotten popular here but don't drag your dog along as the biggest complaint here is that when the dogs do their business, the walkers aren't picking up what the dogs left behind.
Squatters in Littleton, Colo., Couple's Home Refuse to Vacate Despite Judge's Ruling {AOL Real Estate}
Aug 1st 2012 1:46AM My neighbor had problems in getting a former boyfriend out of her house. After repeated calls to the police when he'd show up drunk, high or both, she could not get him to leave the premises and the cops were no help as his driver's license and mail showed that he lived there so their hands were tied.
What that tells me is that all I'd have to do is find a nice house that I'd like to live in is change my address on my mail and driver's license to show that I live there and the cops can't remove me. The homeowners would have to tolerate me until they could get an eviction notice and go through the courts to have me ousted which could take a minimum of 30 days.
No, I wouldn't pull a stunt like this but it does happen! It sucks when the lawbreakers are the ones with the upper hand.
In this case the current residents were conned and I do feel for them but it is someone else's home, they should move out voluntarily.
Vanishing America: The Drive-In Theater {Gadling}
Jun 4th 2012 10:37AM I spent many a Friday and Saturday night at the local Drive-in's from my younger days until their passing. There is still one around but about 35 miles away.
Two out of the 3 are completely gone, the 3rd one still has the screen up but is now a junkyard. The sign that used to be in front of the Douglas Drive-In Theater is now in the Henry Ford Museum (Greenfield Village) in Detroit.
For those of you in Michigan, here's a link to Drive-In's, http://www.waterwinterwonderland.com/drivein.aspx
Renters Beware: Fraudsters Still Lurking on Craigslist {AOL Real Estate}
Mar 14th 2012 1:12AM The Scammers are getting more creative by the day. My wife got a letter in the mail that was a typical 419 scam but believed that she had hit it rich! It took me a while to convince her that someone was trying to take her for a ride.
About 3 weeks ago I got a call from Kingston, Jamaica with another scam say ing The Donald and someone else were going to send me $10,000.00 cash but they needed money for a "processing fee". Later on I would receive a larger amount. I told the Scammer to never contact me again and hung up on him.
There's a site called 419eater.com that is loaded with all types of scams. If you get an e-mail, phone call or letter that seems to good to be true, it probably is and there's probably a thread on 419 Eater about it.
Best Cities for Sports Fans {AOL Real Estate}
Feb 4th 2012 4:28PM It's too bad that they only counted or took into account the "Big 4" sports as their guide. There are many more sports that should be considered be it auto or horse racing, tennis, golf or any other sport that the cities may have a big following in.
