Buick to expand line with coupe, convertible and wagon? {Autoblog}

Jul 23rd 2010 10:57PM That is a great looking car, but I don't think that is where "Riviera" should go. The Riviera needs to be a large, powerful, luxurious and unapologetic coupe. This is an instance where they should draw more inspiration from past brilliance which has been serving the big three so well with their latest pony car iterations.

That just doesn't scream Riviera to me. Then again, the last one didn't either, though it was pretty good for the times.

The Plus-Size Struggle to Put on Socks -- The Fat Man's Perspective {Asylum}

Jun 17th 2010 5:47PM I haven't worn socks in years (save for dress occasions) because I've found that my feet don't stink when I fore-go them.

That said, I'm a fatty and putting on socks...sucks. As do a number of other things.

I know of no easier, less knee-popping, ball-squishing ways of putting socks on, but I figured I'd chime in with a simple "I hear ya".

Keep up the Fat Man's Perspective. I've got loads of material!

Hennessey VelociRaptor 500: Supercharged, off-road awesome [w/video] {Autoblog}

Feb 11th 2010 2:30AM You have to consider this. You're not just paying for the parts. You're paying for the R&D involved to make the power it includes without risking destroying your truck or your engine exploding.

Anyone can bolt on some parts. Getting those parts to work with the engine, consistently, safely and reliably, and be warrantied? That is a LOT more work.

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised by the trolls rattling off Hennessey Hate when they have no facts to back their statements up. Those rumors have been floating around the internets since 1997 and were the result of a couple of situations where only ONE side of the story was told. Let's apply logic for a moment. If the company was constantly ripping people off and never delivering vehicles and building crap quality products...

...they wouldn't still be around, getting the praise they do from the media, from their owners and from enthusiasts in general. That tells you that, at the very least, most of his customers are happy. Otherwise, he wouldn't still be in business and reputable publications like AutoBlog, Car & Driver, etc wouldn't still be touting his goods as amazing.

This is the internet though, so people are going to continue to propagate rumors, facts be damned.

That said, the truck is wicked!

Spy Shots: 2011 Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG Coupe {Autoblog}

Feb 1st 2010 6:56PM I hope they make for a little more headroom. The CL/S-Coupe (it was the S-Coupe before it was the CL don't forget) has been one of my favorite cars consistently. I'd love to be rocking one now, but I'm too dang tall and my head hits the roof. Hopefully, they added a few inches.

Conan O'Brien gets Satisfaction from latest character: $1.5 million Bugatti Veyron Mouse {Autoblog}

Jan 21st 2010 11:47AM Just FYI, your accounting of the situation at NBC is slightly off...not that it matters. Just to clarify though, here is what really happened (I'm sure none of you care, but eh).

in 2004 Conan got offers to go elsewhere. Being a home-grown at NBC star, they did not want to let him go. In spite of Jay's showing being #1 and having been #1 since he took the show over, they opted to tell Jay, you've got a couple years, then we're moving Conan in. So Jay was going to retire. Figuring out he did not want to retire, they decided on giving him a 10pm time slot and he started his new show as Conan took the reigns at the Tonight Show.

Fast forward to now. The ratings for the Tonight Show are not nearly what they were when Leno was in the big chair and Leno's ratings aren't that great because NBC prime time simply cannot compete with ABC and CBS. For this reason, they decided to move Leno BACK to the 11:30 time slot (central) and asked Conan if he'd move back to his old slot, to which he said no.

Queue the current storm.

I think it is important to acknowledge that it isn't Leno starting this or pushing this. NBCs management screwed up plain and simple (what's new?) by moving Conan in and Leno out when Leno was #1.

Anyway, that is the situation.

Also, don't think for a second that the network isn't happily going along with Conan's exploits. The appearance of a battle royale between Conan and NBC is bringing in viewers, so they are happy to be the brunt of the joke for a while. Conan would not be able to put anything on the air that NBC didn't approve.

New 'Trek' Has It All ... Except Strong Female Characters {Cinematical}

May 16th 2009 1:22AM Really? Come on people. To do what you're suggesting, they'd have to abandon the entire premise of the movie and its loyalty to the original story lines.

Just because a supporting character wasn't made more important for the sake of pandering to a demographic and just because a character that has always been male wasn't castrated to do the same doesn't make a movie sexist.

I understand the desire and need for better images of females in movies, but this was the worst possible movie to make this point with. They would have had to abandoned details that have been held through decades of TV shows and movies.

NASCAR Champ Gets A New Plane {Luxist}

Dec 25th 2008 7:45PM I'm with the folks commenting on the other idiot's, er, I mean blogger's article.

Also, if he is hoarding his money, it isn't going to help the economy.

Ask Engadget: Best "desktop replacement" laptop? {Engadget}

Aug 29th 2008 11:31AM I just had to deal with this quandary and chose the HP HDX.

20.1" screen up to 1920x1080 resolution
2.6ghz Intel Core 2
4gb ram
2x200gb 7200RPM HDs
I opted for the 256mb video but 512 is an option
Built in Combo drive Blu-Ray ROM with DVD+-R
G wireless (N is an option) with bluetooth and biometric security

It arrived today and I'll be setting it up in a few hours. It is to replace my HP DV9500T which is 2.0ghz, 2gb ram and a 17" screen.
