The Coreys Return -- to the Small Screen {Cinematical}

Jun 22nd 2006 3:22PM OK, shoot me NOW! It doesn't surprise me, at all, that someone (namely the Coreys) are trying to sell this concept. It's not like they have anything to lose. What truly baffles me is why anyone would care. Somebody--please hear me--quit killing TV. The dumbing down of America continues--AND THY NAME IS COREY.

Jun 22nd 2006 3:14PM OK, I'm going to go out on a limb here and go after everyone's favorite "Star Wars". Now I own all of these movies--"Network", "Shawshank", and "Lebowski" (which I agree with James--has improved with age) and I love them all. They stand the test of multiple viewings, but none is without a minor flaw or two. "Clockwork" is simply brilliant, end of discussion.

Then there's "Star Wars"--the ultimate bubblegum film, all surface and no depth. Most of the dialogue is silly and most of the performances leaden. Now, I saw the movie 4 times when it initially came out (and I was a child), but it just doesn't hold up well today no matter how much Lucas wants to tinker with it. Now, the situation improves and deepens with "Empire" and "Jedi" and I consider the trilogy to be ONE great classic movie (in much the same way I consider "Godfather" and "Godfather, Part 2" only ONE classic film experience.)

But viewed on its own merits (alone), "Star Wars" is so childish--sweet and empty. For a sheer popcorn adventure that stands the test of time, I look no further than "Raiders of the Lost Ark."

OK, I'm ready--crucify me.

Fairmont Man'cation Packages {Luxist}

Jun 12th 2006 2:36PM I think it's hysterical that anyone could read my post from 1:13pm (#5)and take it seriously. You've got to be kidding--read the post again. If it's not obvious sarcasm to you, then there might be something amiss in your thought processes. I was responding to the small-minded post by Mel, another example of someone who thinks he speaks for God.

Jun 12th 2006 1:13PM I think Mel has the right idea! Men should never spend time together, it's positively against the wishes of God. Adam wasn't making male friends while Eve was busy being "Eve-like" shopping and taking in biblical spa treatments with the girls. I know I avoid any contact with other guys--friendship can only lead to homosexuality. Man, Mel--you are on to something there! I'm so glad people like Mel are around to let us know what God had in mind for men when he created them in "his" image. Genius.
