They got us good.
Senate Outlaws Loud Commercials, But There's More to be Done {AOL TV}
Oct 5th 2010 8:14AM "I have an even better idea. Have the cable and satellite companies charge an extra $5 or $10 a month and offer commercial free programming"
Actually, that was the whole reason to start paying for what used to be free - you paid $20/month for commerical free television. The $20 was to make up for the lost revenue. Now we pay $120/mo to watch infomercials.
SmackDown: Should a Kid Be Allowed to Scream at a Restaurant? {ParentDish}
Sep 10th 2010 5:49PM "...No child screams without reason...."
and those of us with well-behaved children or no children, don't CARE what the reason is.
"...About the only thing that does work is a little understanding..."
No, that does not stop the mis-behaving child. What works is removing the offending person, large or small, from a place the rest of us have to put up iwth them.
Before You Take an Assistant Job, Read This: An Interview with Lilit Marcus {AOL Jobs}
Sep 8th 2010 9:30PM HA! Completely agree! This could be why she hated her job so much - SHE saw it as beneath her qualifications!
I am a technical writer and have had to deal with people who 'decided to be tech writers' because they couldn't find a job in their own field. As if the 4 years I spent learning my craft in college was wasted time.
Before You Take an Assistant Job, Read This: An Interview with Lilit Marcus {AOL Jobs}
Sep 8th 2010 9:22PM Sounds to me like someone I'd be happy to be rid of - bad attitude, hated where she worked, admits she didn't know her job but couldn't figure out how to learn.
I was a "secretary" before there were a hundred different names for the job, and before anyone was taught that it was something to be ashamed of. There is NOTHING wrong with any decent, honest, ethical job as long as you do it well.
If you don't take pride in what you do, you could be the president of the US and still have a crappy job.

Sep 3rd 2010 7:33AM A thousand bucks to 'carry a purse' for a few months??? No wonder we're all in bankruptcy.

Ham Sells For $1.6 Million At Kentucky Breakfast {Luxist}
Sep 3rd 2010 7:26AM These kind of stories all make nice fluff-op for politicians - but doesn't anybody else think that if the chairman of Republic Bank and Trust would take a smaller salary, then lower interest rates and bank fees and raise employee wages, not only would the money be spread around a bit more but then those folks would have enough money left to donate to charities THEY believe in?

Testing the Pantless Trend in New York City {Stylelist (Main)}
May 11th 2010 9:13PM (sheer floral top, $725 and tiny floral pantaloons, $650),
Seriously? So we know what the 'unreal house wives of overpaid men' will be wearing next season.
We need real designers who can a: design for body types instead of their dreams and b: keep the prices real.
