Illustrious Favre Streak Ending Overdue {Fanhouse NFL Blog}

Dec 14th 2010 8:34AM When I happened to be in Milwaukee for a convention several decades ago, I saw Bret Farve before he was anything except trrying to make the Packers team. He threw a lot of interceptions and didn't look at all good. My friend Cliff, a lifelong Packers fanatic, wasn't very happy with Bret either. I remember saying to Cliff, "That guy is terrible and won't last very long in pro football." Boy, was I wrong. He was a pleasure to watch and a great player. Too bad age and his getting beat up weekly forever it seemed, finally took him to the sidelines. Wish he would have played yesterday and the rest of the season. He wasn't playing very well now but his back up is terrible. 5 more games and that would have increased his record. Love Bret Farve. Was also at the Cincinnati Bengal game when he first played in a regular season NFL game.

Michael Vick's Career Day Spoils Donovan McNabb's Party {Fanhouse NFL Blog}

Nov 16th 2010 8:53AM Vick paid for his crimes. That is over. I would like Cincinnati to sign him and get rid of Carson Palmer who can only find opposing players who are open and hits them perfectly. Or, let him sit and watch next year and get rid of his kid brother who is terrible as a quarteback. Also, fire Marvin Lewis - no other team would allow a head coach to do as bad as he has done for as long as he has done it and keep him around. Also fire the offensive coordinator. I know every play coming up and if I do, the other team does as well. We have, people say, all this talent. Well, talent wins when it has good coaches and a good quarterback. Also, draft a good running back and some defensive players who play angry. Last year we got into the first round because we had a weak schedule. Then collapsed when we faced our first playoff opponent. Michael Vick might make a big difference. Carson Palmer has a zillion dollar contract for many years. Eat it or allow him to find another team willing to eat it. But change coaches as he might be a star with a team coached well as all the rookies and journeymen do when they play quarterback against the Bengals.

Sparky Anderson: Simply Special {Fanhouse MLB Blog}

Nov 5th 2010 12:08PM Sparky was a great manager and a person. As a 60 year old Cincinnatian, always wondered why Sparky was fired. Found out in the newspaper it was because he would not fire 3 of his picked coaches. What a great friend and loyal to his people. The core of the Big Red Machine also had fond personal messages to the departed Sparky as did the baseball writers and announcers. What I disagree with the writer of this article is any blame put on Pete Rose as Sparky and Rose were fast friends. Sparky's first item as manager of the Reds was to make Rose Captain. His big four: Morgan, Bench, Perez and Rose ruled his clubhouse with Perez being likely the "Big Dog". Rest well and you will be seeing us all again soon enough.

Halloween Candy Nightmares: 10 Worst Choices {That's Fit}

Oct 23rd 2010 8:52AM They always tell me that this or that has too much of something not good for me. I'll eat this stuff and give it out to any children who stop by. Bet they like it far better than a tooth brush.

Barbara Billingsley, 'Leave it to Beaver' Mom, Dead at 94 {AOL TV}

Oct 17th 2010 8:23PM Too bad, that show was great. I saw every episode and eagerly awaited the next show. I was 7 years old then and am 60 now. I also remember Hugh in various movies with Errol Flynn.

Meghan McCain Talks Sarah Palin, 'Sexy' Obama and Dad John McCain's Tweets with Snooki (VIDEO) {AOL TV}

Sep 8th 2010 10:44AM What a nitwit. Was she so-called educated somewhere? Talk about the dumbing down of America especially the youth in schools or the younger than 40.

'Angry' Mia Michaels Says Claims of 'Dance' Racism Are Ridiculous {PopEater}

Aug 11th 2010 7:38AM Who cares? Stupid show as it isn't dancing but somebody's interpretation of something inane. Make them dance not flop on the ground with stupid props.

How almost half of all taxpayers pay nothing in federal income tax {WalletPop}

Aug 2nd 2010 3:45PM 1. With the amount of foreclosures and the governments at all levels wanting more home ownership even for those incapable of paying back the mortgage, I seriously doubt they will stop the interest deduction on home mortgages and home equity loans.
2. The Earned Income Tax Credit is basically welfare built into the tax code. However, it only applies on up to two children but returns all taxes including FICA plus a little more. There are restrictions by income levels. Since the Congress (both houses are Democrat), no chance that will be removed.
3. Tax deferred accounts are what they should be. Yes indeed, a person should shield as much of his tax base as is possible. The government will waste it otherwise. Even if not in a tax-deffered account, Muni's are triple-tax free.
4. Capital Gains are for all and at better rates for the less wealthy. Dividends (even under the Bush tax decrease) are already double taxed and in some cases triple taxed. The corporation pays its business tax and then the person holding the shares of stock pay another tax. If a corporation is held by a mutual fund, the corporation already paid its taxes, then it is sent to the mutual fund which if 95% of the dividend is not paid to the mutual fund share holders, there is another tax and the individual holding those mutual fund shares also pays his tax.
5. Employee Benefits - health care being the most generous is not now taxed. That likely will change inspite of what was printed in the article above. However, corporations will be taxed at 8% if they avoid paying at least part of the health care benefits. Likely, some corporations will find this better than paying for health care for employees. If this is changed, woe be the political party that enacts the new legislation.
AMT (Alternate Minimum Tax) is already scheduled to come back. So, even with all the deductions you can think of or use, you will still pay some 20+% in tax even if zero taxable income.
Estate Taxes have expired and now you may have to pay 55% of any inheritance over $650,000.
The amount you make will lower your schedule "A" deductions to zero.
The amount you make can also completely stop your deductions on yourself, your spouse and your children.
I say, cut the government employees at all levels including the school systems (In Ohio, the behind the sceens workers in the public school systems are over 23,000 and there is only 1 in the Catholic school system which in fact does a far better job) by half this year. Have all senators and lower house work for a month on the budget without any new laws that cost anyone money and pay them 1/12 of what they get now. Get rid of all grants and loopholes within the budget. Get rid of all foreign aid. Bring home the troops in all foreign lands. Next year cut the employees by another 25%. Base all your ideas towards businesses that are expanding and providing real jobs for real people and not on some temporary jobs for government. There are a million items that should be completely cut additionally.

Outrageous Ways to Say 'I Quit' {AOL Jobs}

Jul 15th 2010 8:24AM Having hired and fired hundreds and maybe thousands of persons over 27 years, I know that all fired were very deserving of that status. There were some others that should have been fired as well and would have done so if I didn't sell the company. Every alleged homeless person I handed a business card to and offered that person a job the next day. Call an (800) number an absolutely free call or simply come in. Nobody ever responded in any way to my business cards or offer. I know people have disputes and I would listen and if they had any merit would respond positively. Yet, quitting at this time with no jobs available is simply stupid. These people simply want unemployment and are too lazy to work.

10 Destinations NOT to Visit {AOL Travel News}

Jul 9th 2010 1:55PM Went to the Luxor when it first opened. Thought it was nice then. It was very inexpensive and different. Have been to Vegas every year since 1972. And, don't mind the smoking.
