Japanese scientist claims breakthrough with cold fusion experiment {Engadget}
May 26th 2008 7:34PM Dear Engadget,
Your blog needs to stick to flashy LCDs and new computer gadgets, not cold fusion stuff I can't understand. Thank you.
La Gorce Island, Estate of the Day {Luxist}
May 23rd 2008 7:43PM As a resident of one of the other islands mentioned in the comments, I have to disagree that La Gorce is not a class A island - there are several large estates which have sold for $15M+ in the past year (one I recall was recently sold to the former CEO of Campbell Soup for $17.5M). La Gorce is a definitely good alternative for those who want to live in North Beach but want the security which North Bay Road does not have.

Star Island, Estate of the Day {Luxist}
Apr 17th 2007 4:05PM I heard through the grapevine that this is actually owned by Gloria Estefan and family, who live a few houses down. It was purchased in 1978 for $145,000 (!!!!!). It's true value is around $10M, but given that a similar sized lot on the island (empty with no house on it) sold for $7M less than a year ago, I think it's possible that this could get $12-15M.
But definitely not gonna fetch the $20M average for a REAL Star Island mansion. Sorry Gloria! Yucky.

Apr 17th 2007 3:39PM looks kinda like a Wally and an Azimut Open had a baby. Must say I prefer the parents though... especially the Azimut 68S Open over this one...

Europe To Get A Seven-Star Hotel {Luxist}
Jul 20th 2006 9:37AM There's no WAY that could be a seven-star hotel. I lived right behind the Galleria for one year, and I know that location very well. It is right across the way from a McDonald's, and there are thousands of tourists walking by each day, not to mention gyspies and pigeons. This must be a marketing gimmick...
Christie's Goes Live {Luxist}
Jul 18th 2006 9:03AM I think it's a great idea. I remember about four times when I wanted to attend an auction but was out of town-- this will level the playing field.
