Companies that vanished: Woolworth's, the granddaddy of the five-and-dimes {BloggingStocks}
Jun 8th 2008 4:50PM I remember Saturday afternoon's at 'Woolies' in Gloucester, England. Just after the war (I was born in '43) as a tot, my father would take me with him, and we would shop on sixpence for hours. Even as a young 'un I enjoyed 'Woolies'. Ah, memories.........
Companies that vanished: Pan Am, cultural icon {BloggingStocks}
Jun 8th 2008 4:30PM I flew Pan-Am from London to LAX in the 80's. One trip I remember: We were late into LAX due to late take-off at London. They were always waiting for more fares. Anyway, we were kept circling LAX for so long, that we were running out of fuel, so off we go to Las Vegas to re-fuel, then back to LAX. This took about three hours, then at LAX we were bussed (with armed guards) to another terminal because the customs near the Pan-Am terminal had gone home. I was six hours late. Despite this, the airline staff were great.
You have to work for your money! {WalletPop}
Jan 23rd 2008 1:10PM Personal integrity is what counts. Should we be rewarded for honesty? All I can say is that if anyone paid money into my account that I knew they shouldn't have done, I would make sure they were repaid. This guy is an idiot, expecting to get away with it forever! Whether the company will get any of that money back is unknown, but maybe this thief should be made to do the work that he has been paid for!
