'Yeah, we broke the rules,' debt collectors admit {WalletPop}
Jul 18th 2010 9:37AM I've been through it all & I'm waaay ahead of this BS game with debt collectors by many tens of thousands of dollars. Here's some tips learned over the years.
Do NOT answer your phone. Let voice mail do it for you. Never talk to them...ever! It does no good whatsoever if you are responsible for the debt.
If you are one of the dingbats who like to suffer their abuse, record all calls & let them KNOW you are recording their calls. The recorded calls will then be allowed in courts if your case should eventually lead that way. Keep a neat record of ALL correspondence, phone calls etc.
Do NOT go to court unless you're under a subpeona. A summons is worthless paper & nothing to be afraid of. If you are responsible for the debt, the Judge will rule in favor of the plaintiff whether you show up or not. End of story.
Do NOT under any circumstances fill out that form for you to state your entire financial life, past & present employers etc. You are NOT required to do this. If you do, that info will be sold to other debt collectors & anybody else who wants a peek including the Judge, court people & their pals who love to gossip like anyone else.
Change your address. Do NOT have mail forwarded to your new address. Contact only the people/businesses you want to know your new address.
On the negative side, if the debt collector is awarded a judgement by the court, they can place a lien on your property, most likely your home. If you don't own a home, they'll place it on the next most valuable property, your car. That's how it's done here in Florida. I left my home to foreclosure & moved in with the girlfriend! :) The home was too much for me anyway, physically & financially.
On the positive side, the lien means nothing unless you eventually decide to sell the home or move elsewhere. When it sells you'll have to pay off the lien. If you die in the home, your kids will have to fight with the debt collector...which probably serves them right. :)

Little Jimmy better hope no oil smears that beach. He put a bundle in that over-priced yuppy joint.

Army to Court Martial Officer Who Doubts Obama Was Born in U.S. {Politics Daily}
Apr 15th 2010 9:44AM Untill recently, I worked as a pilot for the UN & made numerous trips thru the Kenya/Sudan border. On Kenya's border, there is a large billboard. On the billboard are the words..."Welcome to Kenya, Birthplace of Obama."
Now this Lt. Col. is a Doctor, I really don't think he's shaking in his boots about getting butted out of the military. Far from it. He's probably happy as hell not to be putting his life on the line for the bumbling fool we (you - not me) voted into the White House.
P.S. Has anyone figured out who's going to pay for his Health Care Bill?

Apr 7th 2010 9:04AM I agree wholeheartedly! Worst flight of my life was Nairobi to Paris on Air Kenya. Absolutely crammed in like sardines. Zero leg room...I'm just 6 ft. Surly flight attendants. Crummy food. Got back to the US & swore I'd never fly again.

Thank you Obama & Co....meaning, the rest of the idiots.

House Narrowly Passes Historic Health Care Bill {Politics Daily}
Nov 8th 2009 8:53AM Here's a sample of what YOU are in for if this passes the Senate. I say YOU because I, being a Vietnam Veteran, am entitled to somewhat decent health care at the V.A.
Sample No. 1 - V.A. gives me an appointment two months in advance. The appointment is so far in the future that I forget I have it & have to reschedule another 2 months in advance. 2 + 2 = 4 months for an appointment. Remember, this is from the fairly well run V.A. system...my humble opinion of course...others would disagree that it's much worse.
Here's another sample of what YOU will be in for. I recently had an emergency dental problem...went to V.A...Nope! Sorry! Can't get you in right now, come back in 30 days! By that time the tooth & gum had gotten infected & I suffered in intense pain.
So be sure to thank your Congressional leaders at their next election.
