In the Senate and On the Left, Who Will Take Teddy's Place? (And in What Lifetime?) {Politics Daily}

Aug 26th 2009 6:45PM Ah the great, unwashed, ignorant masses speak out. (this is what passes for indavidual lives and intlectual discussion on the internet these days, I suppose.) Personal, ad-homonem attacks on subjective, ill concieved assumptions about personality traits and mis-stated reords abound here. Most people on their blogs don't have a clue as to the sum total of this man's record of achievment in the Senate over the past 40+ years.
Yes, this man was a liberal in his political views and achievments. No, that doesn't make him a communist or a even sympathizer anymore than the ideological conservative talking heads In the Senate can be called born again Nazis, in all fairness.
His brother, JFK, the last assissinated President, started the "Freedom of Information act with the words, "I will not withhold any information from the general public that they need to make an informed decision on the actions of their Government." But buracracies being what they can become sometimes, originally legislated this edict as an onerous lawsuit laden boondoggle, before Teddy Kennedy stepped to the forefront on the chamber floor and amended the FOIA act to make it easier to request and obtain Government documents, though still not a easy task.
Years later, it was once again Ted Kennedy who championed the Conyer's Committee in 1994 and pushed for the passage of the "Sunshine Act" that finally included the provision for a "presumption of release" and transfered the justificatin for withholding documants onto the agency who still withhold the files: which is where it should have been placed in the first place.
This is just one example of what some of these highly opionated but whoefully undereducated "posters" on-line will find if they ever really did any research into the material records and recorded history of this "Lion of the Left" as his personal friends John McCain, Orrin Hatch and others have called him for years.
Every time I read a batch of newly rleased documents, or a book or magazine article based on information bought to light through the FOIA process, I will think of the name Ted Kennedy, and be thankfull.

The World of Rare Records: Lennon and McCartney's First Recording {Luxist}

Feb 4th 2008 3:59PM Electronic music came along at the same time as mass communications, Air travel was shrinking the world and the youth movement joined the mix with the womens movement, racial equality and the sexual revolution.
Out of this mix came the writing team of Lennon and McCartney. They were talented beyound belief. They had studied the roots of Rock and Roll: Elvis, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly and more.
They had the knowledge of the Brill building writers, they knew enterainment hall music and understood Pop as well. They understood the technical aspects of recording as well. They knew Phil spector and George Masrtin and from all this they created a music that talked to the youth of the world.
Yes, John might not have stated it eloquentely, but these four guys from Liverpool, London were more popular in the culture than religion which was on a long downward slide.
All of these happenstance of time helped to create their work and spread it arond the gobe.
Will these artists be forgotten? No. Not as long as their is a Troubedore with passion in his soul.
The Beatels music will last for eternity, or a least as long as some electronic devise is abel to retrieve their signals
