Feb 4th 2011 1:48AM I forgot to mention also that the John Hopkins Hospital is now saying Chemo is worthless. Does more harm than good. .My husband has been saying for years it never worked. It was something to give people some hope and charge a huge amount of moola. IDA

Feb 4th 2011 1:44AM My dog was totally blind and no sight. She lived in total darkness and no sound at all. She would not be able to understand what we would be trying to do with wheels attached to her back.And just freak out more. She was in horiffic pain as she screamed and cried all the time. At almost 14 yrs of age, we couldn't do it.for her. She died on Sept 2, 2010 and I still cry everynight for her.

Jan 19th 2011 10:20PM I am sitting here reading this story with tears rolling down my face. My Mini-Schnauzer was 13 and 1/2, totally blind and lost all her hearing. Imagine being in total black darkness and completly silence for almost 2 years. . She depended upon me for everything. Except she knew where her food and water dish was. Also where the doggie door was. I know God gave her to me because He knew I would take care of her as long as I could. One evening I had been gone for 2 hours and came home to her crying and screaming and laying on the floor. I tried to calm her but she continued screaming. I took her to an emergency Vet into town about a 1/2 hour from our country home. He took X-rays and gave her 3 different pain meds and I took her to our regular Vet the next day. Her lower disc's in her spine were deteriated and she had no control of her back legs and her bowels. Vet told me we could take her to a bigger city who has a Vet that could do surgery on her back but no guarantees. I held her in my arms and talked to her (even tho she couldn't hear me) and the Vet gave her a shot to Euthanize her. That has been 5 months ago and I still cry every night because she had slept with me every night since she was 3 months old. She was the smartest dog I have ever seen. And Beautiful!. I can feel her spirit around me most of the time. I will love her for eternity.I still hurt so bad.

Oct 12th 2010 9:43PM Lighten up is sooooo right! What will we be able to use in words in a few years? I know of a small town school that has their school mascots name is "Maniacs". Years ago there was a hospital in that town for the mentaly ill. No one has caught up to them yet. And I hope never do. I see on the old census records 200 yrs ago they referred to hearing impaired as "deaf and dumb." Now that is rude.
