TV 101: Five Lies TV Tells Us {AOL TV}

May 13th 2010 2:25PM If those are the worst lies TV has ever told you, count yourself lucky - there's a lot worse out there.

Lucky Gets Luckier: Fernando Alonso's Ferrari 458 Italia {Luxist}

Mar 23rd 2010 2:54PM Interesting that you say Alonos was the only driver ever to really beat Michael Schumacher at his own game during his prime. When asked who he had feared as a driver, Schumacher have a one-word response: "Häkkinen".

A. Lange & Sohne Datograph Perpetual Grey Dial Watch {Luxist}

May 20th 2009 6:12PM Both spellings - "grey" and gray" - are correct. While both appear to have British origins ("graeg"), "grey" is more common in the UK, Canada, and other parts of the world, while "gray" is the spelling found most often in the US. Interestingly, words that have "grey" as a part the "compound" word, such as "greyhound", do not generally have a version using "gray", e.g., in this case, "grayhound" is not an accepted alternative to "greyhound".

Eizo debuts 56-inch 4k x 2k RadiForce LS560W LCD monitor {Engadget HD}

Apr 2nd 2009 5:49PM Actually, it is exactly twice native high def TV definition: 2 x 1920 = 3840 and 2 x 1080 = 2160. What is not stated (that I could find) is whether that's 2160p or 2160i. What would the DVD standard be called - "Really Blu Bluray"?

Amex Digital launches $239 BD-P1 Blu-ray player {Engadget HD}

Jan 13th 2009 6:05PM After Christmas sale price for the Sony S350 in Western Canada was CAD$ 200 (about USD 160). I missed the sale but still got the Sony Store price of CAD 220. Can't imagine spending near that amount for an "off brand" unless proven superior. My S350 looks great on my 50" Sony SXRD - both Bluray (Kingdom of Heaven) and upscaled conventional (Criterion transfer of a 1967 French film, Le Samourai).

Shaw regroups HD channels so you don't have to search {Engadget HD}

Nov 20th 2008 4:48PM Switch came through the other evening and I find it a pain in the ass. I have Shaw's basic level of HD and the two movie channels (incl. HBO Canada) were the last two listed before the Tier 2 channels began. Now, in order to see those two channels, I have to 'page down' a few times. Sure didn't make surfing easoer for me. It would be fine if one had a way to hide unsubscribed-to channels but no such luck.

ViewSonic announces 22-inch VLED221wm LED display {Engadget HD}

Jan 8th 2008 7:32PM I am curious as to why all of the manufacturers are going with 1050 rather than 1080. Am I missing something?
