Atlanta White House, Estate of the Day {Luxist}

Jan 10th 2009 3:39AM I love that he felt the need to build a folly.

That oval office is indeed ovular - cramped, but ovular.

Trying to avoid repossession? Paint a mural and put your monogram everywhere. Banks will work WITH you to help you keep your house.

Dec 10th 2008 9:02AM Those windows do not fit the house at all.

Murakami Craze the Latest Victim of Recession? {Luxist}

Oct 21st 2008 9:45AM Yeah, this one is missing a certain something, though I can't grasp what it is...

Long Beach, Indiana, Estate of the Day {Luxist}

Oct 9th 2008 9:49AM I don't know how I feel about the windows. Did they lower the ceilings in the living room and kitchen? Those beams look like they cut off the tops of the windows.

It also looks like there is central heat/air as well as a boiler - ceiling vents and baseboard heat.

As far as the style, this is restrained for the period in which it was built. Old Lake Shore Drive heading South from Chicago is filled with old buildings that try to combine Tudor with Mediterranean with schizophrenic vomit. I've seen some renovations that include glitter rock on the facade.

Gladwyne Pennsylvania, Estate of the Day {Luxist}

Sep 13th 2008 9:53AM I love this house because it's not a bad reproduction of something European and you know that WAS an option.

That attic is wonderful - clever ceiling treatment.

Most of the furniture actually works for this house, but a few of the bedroom photos look like they were purchased as suites.

The kitchen needs to lose that hanging crap over the island.

Some of the lighting fixtures (billiard & dining rooms) are way too big for the space.

They've done a good job incorporating technology; it's not hidden, but it doesn't dominate the whole house.

Chandler Mansion, Estate of the Day {Luxist}

Aug 19th 2008 11:03AM The rich buyer will be very very stoned and into dungeons & dragons. He must LOVE LARGE statuary. It sounds like a Craigslist posting from hell.

The lighting fixtures are too big. The fake skylight in the kitchen should be demolished. The walls and ceilings should be repainted. The murals should be painted with Kilz so the colors do not bleed through.

Throw away every plastic plant!

My Little Pony, Neptune, Eagle, and Angel need to go outside and keep the lawn company.

The Classicist: Land Rover Celebrates 60 Years at the Top {Luxist}

Jun 17th 2008 8:37AM This is one of the few brands that retains its value for resale.

My only problem is that, with the exception of the LR3, the butt is deceiving. You always find a piece of furniture that should fit, but -because of the pointy butt- does not.

Also, dogs require a running start to hop into these vehicles. While the take-off is cute, it turns into a circus performance when it's raining.

You did not link to this site. Plus, Deidre is prettier than you and I had to filter 2000+ estates on her blog to find those links.

Play fair or shut up. KTHXBAI

Villa Versailles, Estate of the Day {Luxist}

May 22nd 2008 9:18AM I understand the thought behind the gilt columns, but they appear deformed on the second floor interior and exterior halls. I'd remove the gilt for the interior at the very least.

I'd also lose the mirrored etageres and the Miami Vice bedroom sets. They date the place more than the black marble.

The MacKenzie-Childs dining and bar suites actually crowd the rooms - something I'd think was impossible in a house this size.
