Las Vegas Homeowners Association Scandal Claims 4th Victim {AOL Real Estate}

Mar 30th 2012 3:05PM geez louise... we moved into a neighborhood that has a HOA and we've regretted it, ever since. IF we can EVER move out of here (not likely as house is now worth about 1/2 what we paid 4 years ago), we will NEVER move into another HOA controlled community... learned the hard way.
You end up with retired people that have a need to lord over people, abusing "power" and just being mean. It's too bad.
My mother in law's HOA bills ended up costing $800/month! in her condominium association. Can you imagine?! It was more than her mortgage at the time.

Mortgage Settlement Will Lead to More Foreclosures, Experts Say {AOL Real Estate}

Feb 14th 2012 12:02AM What really sucks is the GOOD customer who put 20% down, never was late with a payment, and they cannot get refinanced to a lower rate, something that would easily have been done in the "old" days. Bank of America will not even talk to their good customers because they WANT them to have to stay at the higher rates as they're the only ones making money for the bank. It's wrong.
Who are these people getting the rates, some lower than 3%! Do we have to have a class action lawsuit for the good guys?

Foreclosure Settlement Missing Some Key States {AOL Real Estate}

Feb 7th 2012 3:11PM what I want to know is how many other homeowners that are underwater but have never been late on a payment have been completely stymied by Bank of America when seeking to refinance to a lower interest rate? MY FIFTH TIME TRYING ended in a repeated sentence by the mortgage representative (available only by phone as NO ONE at the bank can speak regarding mortgages, anymore) "your account is with Freddie Mac; it is not available for refinancing". What a crock!
Freddie Mac is not the lender, Bank of America is the lender. How are they allowed to get away with this nonsense?!

Distressed Sales Undercut Home Prices in 2011, Study Says {AOL Real Estate}

Feb 2nd 2012 1:45PM Well... if a lot of people are experiencing what WE have experienced... then, YES, there WILL BE a LOT more homes put on the chopping block... being walked away from instead of trying to even short sale (the ONLY alternative being offered by the banks, by the way, other than foreclosure). Why do I say this? Because, for the FIFTH TIME, Bank of America has REFUSED to even speak to us regarding refinancing, even though BEFORE this BUST, they would have been falling over themselves for customers like us as we have NEVER been late with a payment. However, when I tried to see if we could utilize the newest program supposedly to help those that want to refinance to lower rates (we're paying DOUBLE what current rates are today) with underwater homes (and if you don't think your house is underwater, why don't you try to see... you may be in for a rude awakening)... Bank of America said, "based on your account number, your mortgage is owned by Freddie Mac and therefore not eligible for refinancing" Period, no further explanation. At least we got through to someone THIS TIME. Last time, we tried for TWO DAYS, several calls WITH a HUD/HART ? representative on the line... BofA refused to talk with us as long as the rep was on the line as they record the conversation. EVERY TIME, as soon as the HUD rep got off, we were DISCONNECTED!!! Total BS. No WONDER people get fed up and just walk.

Low Refi Rates Are Great, But Not for Everyone {AOL Real Estate}

Aug 23rd 2011 11:34PM This is some of the stupidest information I've read lately. It may have been relevant about 6 years ago, but not anymore. This HAS to be a rerun article from then.
People may have refinance forms clutched in their hot little hands, but the banks are NOT giving out loans. Just see how far you get. It's all total BS.
And getting a HELOC today? Not happening.

Teacher Suspended for Allegedly Making Kids Scrub Toilet {ParentDish}

May 28th 2011 12:28PM Well... just reading these comments shows EXACTLY what is wrong with parents in America, today. They were spoiled rotten brats and so are their own kids. Most families want everything they see so they have both parents working full time outside the home and the kids pretty much are on their own. With TV and violent video games as the babysitter, what do you expect? No respect is taught because the parents don't use it, themselves. How many unruly preschool children have you seen? I know families that are absolutely dominated by children like you see on that British nanny show (loved that show; should be required viewing by everyone!) First thing you should teach your very, very young child is "NO" and "QUIET", followed by names, phone numbers, addresses FOR SAFETY'S SAKE. THEN, build on their having learned No and Quiet with respect and politeness. This is something the parents may have to learn, first! I have a neighbor that thinks he's "the man", yet I dread to see what his son turns out to be as the man is actually a bully as are his close friends. They obviously never learned a lesson in their lives. They try to run the neighborhood and have actually forced a family out. I steer clear, VERY clear. Because...honey, I will not START a fight, but I sure will finish one. Oh dear!! You guys are getting to me! It's CATCHY!

Teacher Suspended for Allegedly Making Kids Scrub Toilet {ParentDish}

May 27th 2011 4:05PM I CAN TELL YOU A STORY OF WHAT HAPPENED TO ME YEARS AGO WHEN I HAD MY SON IN A PRIVATE, WELL RESPECTED PRESCHOOL. I WAS SITTING OUTSIDE THE SCHOOL AFTER TAKING HIM INSIDE, IN MY CAR BY THE PLAYGROUND, GETTING READY TO LEAVE WHEN I WITNESSED A CHILD FALL FROM A PLAYGROUND STRUCTURE (FELL ABOUT 7 FEET TO THE GROUND). OF COURSE, I JUMPED OUT OF MY CAR AND WAS YELLING TO THE TWO STAFFERS (SITTING ON A BENCH ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE PLAYGROUND, WHICH I COULDN'T ACCESS DUE TO FENCING). THEY WOULD NOT GET UP TO SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON! I WENT INSIDE THE BUILDING TO GET SOMEONE AND PASSED MY SON'S CLASSROOM ON THE WAY OUT. I COULDN'T HELP BUT NOTICE A SMELL COMING FROM THE ROOM, WENT IN TO CHECK AND IT WAS THE TOILET AREA WHICH WAS FILTHY, WITH ORANGE COLORED PEE STAINS EVERYWHERE (MEANING IT HAD SAT AT LEAST OVERNIGHT IF NOT LONGER). WHEN I COMPLAINED TO THE LADY THAT RAN THE SCHOOL? SHE EXPELLED MY SON FROM THE SCHOOL AND TOLD ME I WAS NOT EVER ALLOWED ON THE PREMISES, AGAIN. MY SON WAS DEVASTATED AS HE LOVED THE SCHOOL. TAUGHT ME A LESSON I NEVER FORGOT. TRUE STORY. CENTER FOR EDUCATION IN BRADENTON, FL.

Taking Prenatal Vitamins in First Month of Pregnancy Can Reduce Autism Risk, Study Finds {ParentDish}

May 26th 2011 7:51PM I know that we do NOT know what exactly causes autism and other like type sypmtomatic diseases or whatever they are classified as... but... I do know that my mother slapped me every time I exhibited a behavior (tics and such) and I have to say, she cured me. Now, I don't think any scientist would take up such a study... could possibly use electric shock as the deterrent instead of an open handed slap across the face... I had forgotten all about it until seeing James Durbin's tics and such on American Idol. I reeled with the memories of having some of the exact same movements with my mouth and face... another constant motion ... how to describe... was like forcing my elbows back in a series of motions... she'd smack me on the back when she saw me do it...
abuse? certainly... was it was much more common back then... kids got the belt or whatever was handy...
so... perhaps its a symptom of more leniency on the part of parents? Goes hand in hand with not teaching your child "NO", respect for others, and responsibility for your choices.
