Win A Copy Of The Private World of Yves Saint Laurent & Pierre Bergé {Luxist}

Sep 22nd 2009 4:08AM My most prized possession is a fairly large still life watercolor painting of anthurium. My grandmother (who had fabulous taste, and a fabulous mid century home) bought it from Gumps in San Francisco in the late 1940s and had it framed. The framing alone was 500 dollars and cost more than the painting and at the time it was quite a bit of money, but she had just built a new house and decided she need all new furnishings. It is the most beautiful watercolor I have ever seen, and even today it is so very modern and in style. The woman who painted it is a listed california artist, but I have never found anything else by her. I dont think its the most valuable object I own, but if my house was on fire, it would be the first thing I would save.
