Jul 19th 2012 8:07AM Yeah , I used to suffer the impatience of youth myself. As a 25 yr. old , behind the wheel of my 400+ hp , '67 Corvette. Driving on the crowded So. Cal. freeways it reminded me of bumper pool. With instantaneous acceleration at the mere touch of my right foot , I could attain a nearly 20 mph advantage over the speed limited "other" drivers. Taut , sinewy , excellent eyesight and quick reflexes , yeah I thought I was pretty damn good.
Till one day. I was behind a long line of cars being restraind by just one lane and a very slow clunker , blowing smoke out the pipe. As I finally passed this lame heap of scrap metal , I turned my head to scowel a dirty look. It was a young mother. With 3 very young children , and , one was throwing a tantrum. At that moment , I realized SHE didn't have the luxury of racecar performance. And, that the highway was meant for everyone. Not only the young and quick , but , the old and feeble , as well. In that moment I realized that young mother was actually doing a better driving job than myself. And, that all the speed that was available to me in my supercar , was only a convenient excuse to "run" away from un-comfortable road situations. That moment changed my driving habits , forever. And, within a year of that moment I was a licensed private pilot , and , whenever I left my home in L.A. , I did it at 160 mph.
Jun 11th 2012 10:58PM Trust me folks you really don't want to allow this. Whether it's flowers drawn by a 3 yr. old or a teenage gang banger tagging your property with gang slogans or threats. In a court of law they're both protected under Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. If the HOA allows chalk flowers on a sidewalk than they have no recourse but to allow , eg; "colorado crips rule" spray painted on your security fence. Do you really want to make it easy for the bangers to destroy your community?
Feb 18th 2012 8:01AM I deleted the rambling comment I intended to post. Instead just let me be counted as one who has no sympathy for the seniors with children living in an age restricted community. Abide by the rules respect the right of others and move out.
Mar 19th 2011 12:06PM Anytime you have a "commodity" that has become over abundant...it's value decreases. Now try to imagine a world with 2/3 fewer humans in it. Kinda like it was a couple millenia ago.
" HUMANS .. how many are enough?"
Mar 19th 2011 8:00AM Ms. Fridkis and Ms. Hymowitz are disillusioned from real life and are being misled into a false conclusion because the "media" with which they so strongly rely on for their evidence, are after all profit seeking businesses. The upper management and executive officers (to which their subordinates are answerable to) are to a large extent men and women living in their 30's to 40's whose sum total of experience has been that of being a student of some kind of business degree of journalism degree. The result of this leadership pool is that they tend to hire as their writers and creative staff people who like themselves are chronically lacking in the wisdom and lifes experiences that can only be accrued with age. Ms. Fridkis and Ms. Hymowitz's opinions and conclusions are merely reflecting the trends being fed to them by an industry who itself is infected with the culture that is the subject of their article and book.
Jan 28th 2011 9:04AM Please, Please , Please make Pat Sajak an offer he can not refuse. His talent has been wasted long enough on that stupid game show.
Jan 25th 2011 7:47AM If the middle class and lower classes in America are not angry and demanding justice from the architects of the world economic collapse, why aren't people like this either?

Well said. And, unfortunately can be said for most of societies non-military males.
