Apr 6th 2010 3:41PM Correction: Terrence Moore did not go to Northwestern as I previously posted. Northwestern has an excellent journalism program. I apologize for giving Mr. Moore credit where credit definitely wasn't due. He's a hack writer, and I'm sure he was rejected by Northwestern along with Duke when he was applying to college. Ended up at Miami, the mother of all wholesome, clean cut athletes. Ha!

Apr 6th 2010 2:21PM Terrence Moore went to Northwestern, my alma mater, and he's been whining about Duke for years. Any opportunity he has to trash the program he does, even in a year like this when they win the championship with a total team effort. No superstars, no one and dones, just a lot of chemistry and a lot of heart. These guys graduate, they stay out of trouble. What's to hate? In Mr. Moore's case, sounds like he got a reject letter back in his college app. days. Duke haters, for the most part, have a giant chips on their shoulders. The fact that a private school with great academic standards can beat the big State schools despite tougher admission restrictions is too much for some to handle, It's easier to label them "smug", "arrogant", "insipid" even though there is absolutely no basis. Remember ENVY is one of the seven deadly sins....

Nov 5th 2009 3:51PM Few people know of Joe Girardi's earlier pre-major league baseball accomplishments. He graduated from the engineering school of Northwestern with a degree in Mechanical engineering, one of the most challenging degrees at the university, and did it while playing D-1 baseball. finishing with a 3.7 GPA, I'm told. Pretty remarkable individual.

You're absolutely right. I bought a flat screen TV at Best Buy last month because the deal was that they would recycle your old one. Had a behemouth Mitsubishi 60" that had blown out, so I thought I would do the responsible thing and have it taken away for parts or something. Then when the guys came to pick it up, they told me that they just take it to a landfill that Best Buy leased and dump it with all the other trash TVs. So much for recycling.
