Better With Age: Four Makeup Mistakes That Age You {Shopping Articles Blog}
Nov 6th 2011 5:07PM I can say that I'm a 45yr old dirty blonde haired scandinavian with blue eyes that pop when I wear brown shadow? The one color that most people compliment my eyes is when I wear brown. The shade is about as dark as a hershey bar, and my eyes shine. Not because I think so, but I've been told that for over 25yrs. I wear many colors and brown stands out for me-and I get reactions like "Wow, I never noticed how beautiful your eyes are/how they pop", etc. I believe them, because most all comments come when I out. The one color that doesn't do anything for me is green, like a forest green. Doesn't look bad, but I might as well skip for it does nothing.
'Real World' Star, Now Mom, Says 'NYC Prep' is Bad News {ParentDish}
Jul 19th 2009 7:05AM I agree with Rachel. I do have to say that in my house, if I can't watch a show with my 13yr old daughter, then maybe I shouldn't watch it either. I'm no prude, but I can't see watching trash like any of these "Real Housewives of...." and come away feeling like I benefitted, more like I wasted an hour on garbage. "Guilty" pleasure is completely accurate here for moms who watch this trash and try to block MTV from their kids tv. Maybe I'm crazy, but I just read that weight article here on AOL that said kids likely emulate their parents(fat dad, fat son), so where do you think they get the idea that smut is appropriate. My take? If my daughter comes in the room and I have to change the channel, that's a sign maybe I ought to clean things up, you know? If my teen daughter walks in and I don't change the channel off of some trash I have on, that's a problem too. It really does and always will go back to the parent. Too bad parents are all to quick to cast blame. I'd be the first (no trouble yet thank goodness) to say to my daugher, "Where were YOU when all this was going on" Accountability starts with me, and reality tv like Big Brother, Real House..., take your pick,is harmful to all of us in this house. Anyone who thinks it's a good thing, needs a reality check.
Imprisoned Reporter Euna Lee Sends Message to Husband - Don't Forget to Send in Daughter's School Forms {ParentDish}
Jul 17th 2009 8:05AM Amen Bob! Anyone who is trying to sustain a higher end lifestyle at the expense of their children are going to reap what they sow. You wanted and had these precious blessings. Yet your need to "have it all" includes someone else raising your children 8 hrs a day? You don't "NEED" to have it all. How dare you trade the daily affection for high fashion and the country club? Not to mention you're teaching your children that goods and services mean more than mom or dad being home more. An hour before bedtime doesn't cut it. And no doubt the Nanny gets that hour too. I know that moms have to work, I did too at one point-but never because I had to keep up my maincures, club membership, or ridiculous car payment. It was just to pay the basics. Everything else can wait a bit. My kids need my now, not as the cash cow they will see as they become indulgent teens as in many familes I know. I intend to "have it all"-or more of what I do now someday when my children are grown and nearing adulthood. Until then, they know that they are my world and nothing beats mommy being home because that's what was intended. Justify it all you want. If your working solely to upkeep your selfish needs, then do a reality check. You need to be with your children. They will ultimately pay the price for your "lack of" everytime.
Oprah Denies Jesus as Sole Way to God {Blackvoices Main}
Jul 19th 2008 2:42PM Poor misguided world. I think I'll take my chances with my faith in Christ and promised eteranl salvation, than to place my trust in some statue or even worse, man himself and find out I was wrong all along. To deny the father? That is certain damnation. To think that you can push aside the son of man and walk into paradise. Oh you sad misbegotten people. I will miss those who will never live this joy, my family most of all...
No. 1 Quality Men Want in a Wife {Personal Articles}
Jul 5th 2008 4:04PM Regardless of whether or not a woman works when the children are young, someone had better be home when they are older. A four yr old won't miss you, but you can bet your 13yr old potentially troublesome teen won't miss you at all. The teen years? That is the most dangerous time to leave your children home alone. When the chips fall, you will have no one to blame but yourself for choosing work over your children. Call it what ever you want, try to justify it until the cows come home. The fact is, IF you don't have to work and you choose to be in the office while Junior lets himself in the house alone, you are CHOOSING yourself over your children. When you chose to bring a life into the world, you made a commitment to see them through to adulthood. Take a quick glance around you, the news, tv. What parents have done to their children is a disgrace and a disservice. Raise them first if you have the chance, not if you want to. Once you have them, children are no longer an option, they are your flesh and blood, take care of them now, so the state doesn't have to later. Oh no, not my kid you say? Try again, it a happens to the richest, the poorest, the dumb and the "Harvard" educated. NO child is safe at the hands of a selfish parent. I shouldn't be surprised at the way these kids are today. In this "if it feels good do it" generation, look no further than the parent to see why Junior is a self serving carbon copy of his working to "have it all" parents. Woe to society, this nation is destroying itself from the inside out................
Coach Signature Ombr?ote, Handbag of the Day {Luxist}
May 11th 2006 2:52PM I think this bag is a great summer item. Aside from the gold leather, the colors are vbrant, and the size is versatile enough to be used for work, play, or even kids' stuff. The price on this one is too steep for me, but Coach is worth every penny!
