Mar 11th 2008 3:36PM If anyone wants to know what this woman is thinking, I can tell them. I have been through EXACTLY the same thing - only my husband is not a govenor - just a narcisist like Spitzer. The Mrs. just had her entire world literally turned upside down. No one can imagine the shock and pain she is in unless you've been there and I have. She is in complete shock and will continue to be for years to come. There are some of us mothers who would do absolutly anything for our children. In this situation, she must feel he has been a good father (no, what he did was not good and yes, he risked his family for NOTHING). No one says she forgives him, no one says she will ever forget. Believe me, whatever marriage they have after this will be completely different than the one they had. . And like the article says..."They know it's not any better outside the spotlight of public life." This is the depressing truth for her. Her pain is so great that she cannot imagine anything making it worse. When this happens you almost want the whole world to know so you are not in shock all by yourself. Oh and also because you think he is a pig and you want everyone else to know he is a pig. She realizes that leaving him will not take away the pain of what he has done to her. She likely does not love him anymore but I bet their poor confused girls still do. So for her, life is not about her anymore, IT IS ABOUT HER CHILDREN. You may disagree with her if she decides to stay, but I promise you that her reasons are NOT because she doesn't care about what he has done and it is not because she is stupid. And it is most certainly not about the money.. she will likely get plenty if she decides to leave. She is doing what she feels is best for her kids because she feels like only a shell of herself now. She is in for a LONG, TOUGH road. It is not like they have support groups at church for this stuff! She knows that if she leaves him she will be angry and unhappy, and if she stays and she will be angry and unhappy AND a single parent! - but she likely thinks the KIDS will ultimately be better off if she tries to hang in there. So she is doing what she feels is best for her children. He has ruined her for life. If that woman stays, she is not stupid, she simply has way more strength and love for her children than most of us do. It is harder to stay than it is to go.
