Aug 9th 2010 2:51AM There are "left-handed compliments" but this is a confusing, "ambidextrous compliment." I don't object to Prowse trying to put the Force of Vader behind his charities. Do you mean that by doing so he is more worthy of the fame belonging to the role than those other three together, or that he is more thoroughly displaying Vader's character? Not the latter, I hope.
Aug 6th 2010 1:08AM Why is it in his photos, no matter how much Tony Robbins smiles, his eyes look sad? Does he teach anyone anything more than how to get wealth? Did he ever mention this famous quotation: "He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose"?
Jul 5th 2010 2:12AM He MUST have been good for Piers Morgan to unbend. I still haven't forgotten how he developed an animus against the "Quick-Change" act a year or two ago by a very talented couple. He just went after them and said their act was nothing special - talk about not being able to do it yourself!!
Jul 5th 2010 2:06AM Thank you for mentioning Pennant Roberts and in that connection, "Blake's 7." That and the original "Dr. Who" were probably my two favorite sci-fi shows in the late 80's. I wish they'd bring the "Blake's 7" episodes back.
Jul 1st 2010 1:06AM I notice that the study of the cell phones was done in India. Who manufactured the cell phones they attached to the hives? To what country's emission standards were these phones compliant? Were they cheap cell phones made for the Indian popular market, which may have much more harmful radiation, or were they made for the US/Euro market to tighter emission safety standards? Maybe the issue is not that normal cell phones emit radiation that harms bees. Maybe the study should really show that India manufactures harmful cell phones.
Jun 19th 2010 8:47PM If anyone's wondering where to start with that, can I give them your name?
May 26th 2010 2:49AM Being from what was once Marjorie Margolies Mezvinsky's Congressional district, which she won on a promise to fight tax increases - and then cast a deciding vote FOR President Clinton's bill because he promised to hold a seminar in her district - is it supposed to surprise me that MMM's son is marrying Clinton's daughter? Evidently the families have been tight friends ever since. I guess for DC insiders that makes up for however many friends you lose at home.
May 15th 2010 4:23PM "We shall see him as he is"? Please elucidate in the context of the famous LDS doctrinal statement, "What Man now is, God once was, and what God now is, Man can become." That changes everything, doesn't it?
May 15th 2010 4:20PM I have two reasons for agreeing with those who protest Beck's invitation as commencement speaker, although I admit it appears to fall within the University's commencement tradition. First, in order to hold my Christian beliefs in the identity of Scripture as God's truth, I must regard certain Mormon beliefs as heretical in some cases and illogical in others. I have to be careful that I do not rely on Beck's (or Romney's) judgment because I like the person to the extent that I am unknowingly influenced by un-Biblical ideas. Second, even before I found out Beck was a Mormon, I was tiring of him. He thinks he's wonderful, and unfortunately he seems to have others feeling they ought to agree with him. For my part, when someone supplies that much esteem to themselves, I see no need to add mine. I came to feel that way about Limbaugh, and now about Beck.
May 13th 2010 2:44AM Mexicans and other Hispanics are not the only illegal immigrants - and they're probably not the only ones coming over the border into Arizona. They're not even the biggest problem, Russians and Indonesians are, (which I learned from a friend who had to deal with INS/CPB while contesting his wife's deportation, unsuccessfully.) But illegal immigrants are a threat - beyond taking jobs, they also add to stress on water supplies, sanitary systems, trash collection, etc. We can't afford to have no idea and no control of how many people are in our towns, our cities, our states, or our country. It is far easier for people to cross our borders than it is for us to keep upgrading our infrastructure. If we don't slow down population growth, it becomes harder and harder to keep pace with it. Arizona has the right idea - but will they be as tough with Indonesians and Russians as with Hispanics?
