Grand Hotel Kempinski Geneva, Now Open for Business {Luxist}
Nov 18th 2007 5:57PM My daughter & I visited the hotel tonight before going to a show. We were so very disappointed with what has happened there. The décor is awful and the dining room cold with whiny jazz music. We first of all went to the Chinese restaurant at 6.50pm. Our journey there was quite an ordeal because of the sick making pattern in the carpet. A waiter saw us outside the locked door but said nothing. At 7.00pm two more people arrived and at 7.05pm a woman started cleaning the glass in the door. We were amazed and when my daughter tapped on the glass, the woman opened the door and very coldly told they were not open until 7.30pm. There was no sign anywhere of their opening hours. We went back to the other restaurant which used to be so lovely when the Noga Hilton had it. We were asked if we wanted a drink and we asked for wine. Fifteen minutes later after calling a waiter we finally got a drink. The food was fine although when we looked at the menu we were surprised to see that many starters were the same price as the main courses. When we had coffee they forgot the cream and I had to walk to the kitchen door to get someone's attention. Needless to say we didn't leave a tip. The lift signs were totally misleading and when we asked a member of staff about getting to the theatre she said they only had their doors unlocked when there was a show. She was unaware that there was one on that night. The hotel must have had millions spent on it but I for one will find another to visit on my next trip to Geneva.
