The real Jersey Shore doesn't like Jersey Shore {AOL TV}
Dec 22nd 2009 11:34PM Twenty years ago when my friends and I would go 'down the shore"... we only went to "sleazeside heights" to see all the guidettes in their glory.... nice to know 20 years later, sleazeside still earns its keep in its namesake...
Everyone with class, if I recall, went to Pt. Pleasant if you were a yuppie/preppie....or down to Wildwood or cape May... Sleazeside, well was and apparently still is exactly how the MTV show portrays it...
take it for what its worth
Hank to be replaced by Charlie Brown {AOL TV}
Oct 17th 2009 2:19PM As for Mr. O'Connor.... I seem to recall him being excellent in the "In the Heat of the Night" series....
At first, I would see "Archie Bunker", but honestly he was such an excellent actor, he totally broke that mold. All I saw was the southern cop after the first few episodes.
I suppose Grammar could too break the mold in the same way by playing a character witha different accent in a totally different spectrum of life... as Carroll O"Connor did with Heat of the NIght.
Hank is truly painful to watch {AOL TV}
Oct 15th 2009 2:51PM I totally agree...it was painful. I watched it too because of the "it's going to be funny" promise. I have watched all 3 episodes and they are just hmmm "dopey" as yo put it. It reminds of a sitcom filmed in the 70s or 80s and not a good one at that.
At one point I thought poor Mr. Grammar is trying to carry the whole show on the most silly predictable dialogue I've heard in quite awhile.
It had almost a "Brady Bunch-esque" feeling to it without any of the charm which kept Brady Bunch on for years.
You almost expect "hank" to be declaring " I told you kids not to play ball in the house" after an incident ....and us still not laughing.
I regular DVR Frasier at 3AM here in California to watch during the day.. I fear I will not watch Frasier when Hank is on.
It's a shame because I am sure the show could be so much better. The concept is great in light of the current economy and the many mini-Madoffs running amuck. It is very believable to hear of a CEO who lost it all .. and had to downsize. However, the comedy here in Hank is just not there -- I give them kudos for trying, but that's it.
Cancel Hank and order more Modern Family....
Maybe Mr. Grammar could be a rich eccentric uncle on Modern Family - would be more believable than Hank. I definitely enjoy Kelsey Grammar, just not on this show.

Sunday Real Estate Round-Up, 11/30/08 {Luxist}
Nov 30th 2008 3:43PM The interesting part of Pinnacle Farm is there is no house whatsoever. They suggest you can build one. My wife asked me to inquire on this prop. awhile back. I asked why the price increase and the realtor informed us that the owner "felt" that her property was so amazing that it justified an extra 10 million. I inquired if there were any 'improvements' made to make a jump from 25 million to 35 million and the response was "no". You could buy a p iece of land in the same town and build the same facility for millions and millions and millions less. The owner is out of her mind asking for 35 million in the "middle of nowhere" for such a small piece of land.

I'm not sure if The New Yorker likes Burn Notice or not {AOL TV}
Aug 4th 2008 3:40PM I would love it if they pursued adding Tyne Daly to the cast as her Sharon Gless' sister. I can imagine the two of them with their synergy would be amazing ripping Michael up.... would be fun to watch the sit around and just make his life utter hell.
I would think that would liven it up a bit - especially if htere were episodes when the 2 of them had to leave the house to save Michael - could be very funny to watch

May 29th 2008 3:15PM Hey Deidre !
I just want to say I read your blogs each and every day. In fact, I think I have been reading for at least 2 plus years. I really am beginning to miss seeing the colossal 20-100 million dollar mansions and sprawling ranch estates. I noticed the last month or so it seems the estates have gotten under 5 mil.
Is there just not a lot of new mega ranches and mega mansions hitting the market are you just changing your tastes -
Anyway, I will still read every day but I certainly prefer when you dig up the massive mansions and the great great ranch estates.
Oh.. here is one I don't know if you hit upon or not..

Apr 15th 2008 3:15PM This is SO sad -- what's wrong with our country - being subdivided into oblivion.
The ENTIRE ranch was for sale just several months ago for 25 million for nearly 3000 acres -
So this group bought it for 25 million - from what I understand did nothing to it - but regrouped the already divided parcels that made up the ranch - tossed in some fancy architect names... and now less than a year later
they want approximately 80 million for the same land when you add up the several parcels..
Hmm 25 million to over 80 million in less than a year for doing almost absolutely nothing beside hire a fancy web designer and a few architects.
now that's a ballsy return on your money
and the Santa Ynez countryside gets another subdivision
