Wal-Mart's sick leave policy risks spreading swine flu {WalletPop}

Nov 6th 2009 5:24PM Walmart is no surprise, Kraftmaid and most places have the same practice. When I worked at Kraftmaid, It was mandatory to work over and because of their line system they would not let you leave even if there was a medical emergancy. I Loved my new job until I went to punch out one day ( My 91st day ) and discovered to my horror that the hospital called for me to come right away, that my 6 yr old was in a coma from school at 10:00 am and the message was stapled to my time card and I got my notice when I punched out at 8:00 that night! I called off at work the next day and they told me Kraftmaid was first and nothing eles mattered, I needed my job, torn between being the only one working ( hubby was in wheelchair recovering from accident ) a new baby, my son with a broken leg from football and now my daughter in a coma from a freak bee sting in ICU, so when I returned I was given a bunch of points for the call off ( my first one ) and told one late or call off and I was done, needless to say I got a crap job making minimum wage and a welfare sitter etc and Quit. My child could have died and that company could have cared less if a parent kissed their baby goodbye. Needless to say I ripped out every cabinet and any other product connected to that company in my home and went with a company who cared just as equal to their families as well as their product later. But this point system that these companies have are ridiculas and anti family as well as allow employees to bring illness to work when they are sick causing others to get ill and add to unemployment rolls. More profit is made when a company has care and compassion for their employees and their family, it makes a much happier work enviroment and when employees are happy production is better quality with a higher quanity. This was my experance with the points system.

Woman Jailed For Dragging Kid on Leash {ParentDish}

Aug 5th 2009 12:35PM OMG, this is so normal its funny, See it all the time as well as nosey society radicals. A kid pushes the button and the parent states if you dont then this will happen..well as parents we have been told the last 20 yrs to NOT spank your child its cruel ( or the modern term "Bust your a** ) But to speak to them and follow thru, well here is an example. Looks to me that is what the parent is doing and I give her a thumbs up! And the kid, take a good look he / she is not rebelling but seeing how far mom will go. Nope the kid is not grabbing anything, showing he needs assistance etc. MOM you go girl, you stand up to that rebelious kid and when you get home spank him /her and dont take her next time. It just might save the kid from going to prison as an adult! Take a good look at kids today, they are just a pack of spoiled muleheads who really deserve to get daily spankings every day for the just because. Society beat down parents so these brats run wild and will govern our country, heck they will not be able to adapt to having their own families later because they will be in jail because they where outta control. Thank God I had my but busted and mom followed thru, I am not in jail today because she cared to do what she felt right and she is a shrink........Again, thumbs up mom...Hell let me walk by your side!

Teen births in the U.S. see first increase in 16 years {That's Fit}

Dec 8th 2007 5:26PM Congradulations on your impending grandchild, although a little sooner than you hoped, but none the less I hope its healthy and you enjoy many fond memories. No matter what any one eles says... she will not be the first nor the last for her or the babies father.
My daughter as well had a daughter at almost 20, she is a college student and has never applied for government assistance. I am not only a proud grandma but also very proud of my daughter because she took her responcibility in hand, not only does she support her daughter but she is not on a free student loan. Not every person who is single will opt to raise children on Taxpayer money.
Instead of condeming these young folks, we need to be there for them as mentors. These kids are only involved in what we did and tried to hide.

Teens and Prozac: Are parents to blame? {ParentDish}

Nov 28th 2006 9:27AM Are these Kids really depressed?

I am really wondering if these teenagers are really depressed or if its just confusion from not having the right balance of Love and Discipline. Yes bad things go wrong and then their are good times. I experanced many bad times and behaviors and was labled depressed with major outburst. I ran away and kept running until I grew up, Later in my mid 20s I started searching for answers myself and discovered that the majoriety of kids who behaved such as I had workaholic parents who found more important things that had to be done and the kids in their eyes where doing ok they had everything provided. ( My parent was a Social Worker ) When I went to live with my aunt at about 15 she gave me the best gift I could have ever got..... she gave me a Azz Burn! and I mean a true down and dirty whippin. I did not like it at all but she told me if I reacted negativally I would get another. I respected this wonderful lady who gave me life more than my mother who birthed me. I would have been kept on antidepressants most of my life. But I learned that there must be a even balance of Love and Discipline. This is what most of us need.

Eating Horse {Gadling}

Nov 26th 2006 9:41PM Horse meat not so bad

When I was a older teenager/young adult I worked as a live in sitter for a single man and his two children. Every morning I fried or broiled steak, eggs and fried potatoes sometimes making gravy...This was breakfast. I was always worried about eating so much meat, but he assured me it was fine and he would have more coming. I figured it was Deer meat because it tasted very much like it, I being a farm girl was very well use to deer, turtle, rabbit, pheasent, besides your average farm meats. My family hunts and friends of ours would go all over the globe hunting so I also had Elk, Caraboo, Snake, Bear, Seal, Shark, Whale ( don't like whale its way too oily )needless to say I have had a well rounded share of meats. Anyway after about 5 months of eating steaks, meat stews, and BBQs I finaly commented of the great hunter who was able to provide so much deer meat. He said " You think this is deer"? I said well yes it tasts like it, and it looks like it, Isn't it Deer? ( He had me wondering now ) He was sitting there stairing at me and then he replied " No this is not deer meat its Horse meat. I shouted HORSE!!!! Ive been eating horse?! I was so instantly sick I ran from the table.
After a while of thinking about what I was eating and got use to the idea that I had been eating it all these months and enjoyed it, I realized that as much as I did not want to except it was that food is food. If we where not so colonized and lived in other parts of the world we could be eating different things like insects such as grubs, wasps, beetles or even those cute green frogs in a pet store or raw fish, beat up bark from some rotted tree Or I could be drinking animal pee in some strange religion. So giving it deep thought I concluded that even though my choice would not to have been to eat horse meat, but that I had it was not so bad after all. Truth to be told now, I would not mind having some of those steaks. (Shhh don't tell my husband I will let him believe like I did and have a smaller grocery bill )
By The way..... I am a 42 year old woman whos family has lived off much of the land since the late 1700s and I live in N.E.Ohio in farm country. German, Irish, Indian, Swiss, English

Luxist Guide to Outdoor Furniture {Luxist}

Apr 27th 2006 11:46AM The greedy idiot who pays that kind of money has got to be really full of himself/herself. For that kind of money you can provide a great x-mas for needy children or help a senior center assist the elderly in getting meds, or even buy a car and get someone off welfare so they can get to work.
I am a real person, we provide basics and a few extras for our family but we always share with someone in need before we would consider such spending...
and as far as looks........ what planet or underworld did that stuff come from?
