Jan 30th 2011 11:16PM I have been living in Mexico for about 8 years and yes, there is such a drink. Just to clear the air, the name of the drink is pronounced me-che-La-da not (me-kay-LA-da). Yes there is a "ch" sound to it, not "K". Any Mexican bar will serve it when you pronounce it right! Enjoy!

Jul 3rd 2010 5:27PM I could not agree more with you about the fish hook. I've tried and I worked just great. If you don't have a fish hook you also try a safety pin. Just bend the tip to create a hook and it works like a charm. I've tried both methods and can vouch for them.

I am Mexican living in Mexico and I agree with Lynette who said "Anyne who hates cilantro has no business giving recipes for guacamole". Changing the ingredients makes it something else. Perhaps it can be called just "avocado dip" but not "guacamole".
As far as additional ingredients is concerned my mom, who is also Mexican, used to add a tablespoon or two of grated mexican "asadero" cheese. Monterrey Jack cheese will do. Try it.
