Clinton's Last Stand {Blackvoices Main}

Jun 4th 2008 3:41PM Also, if Hillary runs as an independent, then she really is self-indulgent and would be running not for the good of the nation or even the party, but rather to feed her own self-centered ego. If she were to run as an independent, her voters would take valuable votes away from the democratic party.

John McCain would only end up winning and the nation would continue in the tailspin that it is currently in. Also, she probably would not be put on the ballot as an independent at this late stage because she had run for so long as a democratic candidate.

Clinton's Last Stand {Blackvoices Main}

Jun 4th 2008 3:35PM This message is in response to comment # 13 by Gabrielle. I'm amazed at the number of people who believe that Hillary is more qualified than Barack. What is the criteria? Just because she says she is more qualified doesn't make it so. We all know that she fabricates stories. Just because she is older than Obama, doesn't make her more qualified to unite and lead our nation. Just because she was a first lady, doesn't mean she is qualified to be the President.

Both Hillary and Barack are JUNIOR SENATORS. Look at their congressional records. Hillary has sponsored or co-authored fewer than 20 Bills in Congress, while Barack has more than 100. Also, his legislative bills are significant, whereas hers are akin to the kind of superficial work of a first lady. Prior to her 4 years in congress, Mrs. Clinton's experience was that of a woman married to a president.Barack at least was a lawmaker for at least a decade before being elected to congress.

So, who is really the most qualified to lead?

Open Letter: Star Jones Checks Bill O'Reilly's Racist Remark {Blackvoices Main}

Mar 1st 2008 9:33AM Dear Ken and Poor Me,

I'm amazed at your thinking processes. I think that it would be helpful if you first looked up the definition of the word RACISM. You would find that RAISM, like CLASSISM, SEXISM and other "isms" is a presumption of supremacy or superiority and the systems put in place and actions taken to maintain the privileges assigned to the false superiority.The notion of "race" itself was fabricated to justify the conferring of privilege on one group at the expense of others.

Have you ever had a very bad childhood experience or nightmare---one that causes a very bad emotional and physical reaction whenever you are reminded of it?

That's what lynching and the "N" word do to ancestors of enslaved Africans in America. Call it ancestral memory, history, cell memory or whatever.

The fact is the notion of lynching takes people back to a time of unforgivable violence and hatred. The words "lynch mob" and the "N" word have different meaning for different groups because of the different historical journeys in this country. Your journey is not the journey of Star Jones or any other Black person. Star Jones' journey is different from say a Chinese American whose ancestors helped build the railroad system. My journey is different from those Native Americans whose ancestors were forced to march on the trail of tears.

How do you feel when someone constantly reminds you of a painfully unfair, abusive period in your past or even your family's history?

Don't you wonder why after all of these decades of "progress", why do the same people continue to recklessly pour salt on your wounds?

In American RACISM is historical.

Sep 30th 2007 4:51PM You were'nt fair to Sade. Her lines were, "Coast to Coast, LA to Chicago, Western MAINE, . . . then south to Key Largo.

After initial pause following "Chicago", she' gets the listener to the east coast.
