Win A Copy Of The Private World of Yves Saint Laurent & Pierre Bergé {Luxist}

Sep 25th 2009 1:30PM I have no prized possessions. There is nothing in my home that I would regret losing if I were to throw it away this very instant. I do enjoy my luxuries and have no plans to dispose of them any time soon, but it's all ephemeral.

Secret Cabinet {Luxist}

Jan 27th 2007 10:58AM I don't get it either. If they are going to build a "secret" cabinet, at least make the door opening congruent with where the drawer edges would be and use internal hinges so it actually looks like a dresser rather than a 50 dollar novelty bookshelf picked up at K-Mart.

Kevin Federline Oblivious To Cristal Boycott {Luxist}

Aug 24th 2006 5:58PM "So just to let you know... hating went out of style a long time ago."

Tell that to the 1.6 million people who will lose their lives to violence this year.

Display + search = better conversion {AdJab}

Jul 23rd 2006 4:27PM I've seen similar results on web sites I run. Adding a display ad of *any* sort usually increases the click through on the text ads. I'm speculating that the viewer automatically goes blind to the display ad, which opens up their acceptance to the unobtrusive text ad, and therefore making those text ads more clickable. By showing the display ad, you've given the viewer the obligatory and expected opportunity to go ad blind and this 'resets' the viewer to be more open to less obtrusive promotional methods.

I've also had success with providing viewers with "throwaway text ads" at the top of a page and then putting the "real" advertising below the fold at the end of a visually scannable body of text. 1) The viewer automatically discards the most obvious advertising. 2) They get the content they came for. 3) When they are done with the content, they are primed to view the relevant advertising.

Record Setting Tequila {Luxist}

Jul 22nd 2006 1:18PM So if I filled up a platinum and diamond encrusted bottle with mule piss would that make it a million dollars worth of mule piss, or just mule piss in a million dollar bottle?

AutoblogGreen for 06.16.06 {Autoblog}

Jun 16th 2006 9:54AM This car was also the 'future' back in 1999 when Corbin released it as the Corbin Sparrow. They lasted three model years before Chapter 7.

Hummer H8: A parody {Autoblog}

Apr 19th 2006 8:55PM BAN SUVS! WE HATE HUMMERS! WE HATE SUVS! Click here for a quote on your next Hummer. When dealers compete, you win! - Ads by Goooooogle WE HATE HUMMERS! WE HATE SUVS! BAN SUVS!

I'm all for parody. I'm even all for parody when its sole purpose is to generate ad clicks. But for the love of Hephaestus at least tailor your ads so they are in sync with the rest of the "content."
