Chasing Value: Apple $50 Billion + $484 Million {BloggingStocks}
Oct 24th 2010 12:50AM As a long time AAPL share holder, I do not
(1) Think it makes sense to do a share buy back when your stock price is at all time high. Why? That's the dumbest use of capital. The stock is at an all time high for a reason.
(2) Paying A dividend when you have double digit earnings and revenue growth is a waste of money. Earnings growth is like crack to wall street, they will pay up for this level of earnings growth. When AAPL gets to a 100 billion per year in revenue growth, then and only then should they need to revisit the dividend issue.
Dividends are for companies who don't have double digit revenue growth.
Dan Did you not see the article this week about google's effective tax rate of 3% because of their irish offshore holdings. All of these companies have figured out that re-patriating cash to the US is not a good thing. Witness microsoft's raising of a corporate bond yielding some 3% when they have a ton of cash. Why? because it was cheaper than bringing their cash back to the US. it's not rocket science really it isn't

Oct 22nd 2010 8:21PM Sheldon. Apple, like Google, Microsoft and many "American" companies that want to maximize shareholder value, have their cash parked overseas away from the grubby hands of the American Govt. Having the cash grow at some low rate overseas vs bringing it back to the US and being taxed at 35% in USD's being debased by Bernanke doesn't make sense to anyone with accounting 101 experience. Per Apple's latest earnings report, 57% of their revenue came from overseas and China is poised to be their growth driver.

Jan 4th 2009 3:39PM What is the big draw of Netbooks? What apps are people ofent using on them? It seems like an iPod touch like device with a screen size similar to average sized netbook (say 8 - 9 ") with a virtual keyboard, (or even bluetooth keyboard support) would be a killer device. Do people relish running every single windows app on a netbook?

Dec 17th 2008 12:23AM There is no way the SEC can recover from this. The only thing left is to eliminate the SEC and start over with a new name, new powers and a new mission with a leader that can not be bought.
Also Obama needs to publicly cast off Cox a la John McCain who said in September that Cox has failed the American people.
This moFo should not be able to land a cushy job in the private sector, once he is gone, his contract is up in June 2009, but if he has any integrity, he will step down to spend more time with his family come an Obama administration.

TiVo Desktop 2.4 public beta loosed, enables PC-to-TiVO transcoding {Engadget}
Feb 25th 2007 7:38PM I'd like to remind Mac Users of TivoTool http://www.tivotool.com/ I have a Hughes HDVR2 with a Linksys-USB200M that's connected to an AirPort express. Tivo Tool transcodes seamlessly while pulling the file over onto the mac into either MPEG 2, DIVX, MPEG 4 or even the Raw .ty format. Also tivotool incorporates mplayer which allows you to watch (stream) movies from your Tivo so you don't even have to download them first, you only need vserver running on your Tivo.
I really don't see why I would buy the Tivo desktop software when there is a free solution out there for the Mac....
2008 Lexus RX 350 pricing announced {Autoblog}
Jan 28th 2007 11:36PM My wife has a 2006 RX 400h. First off it has a 0-60 in 6.9 secs. Faster than any BMW X5 (and we are talking the V8 M5). I also average 25 MPG. yes 25 MPG. This is an AWD vehicle, but I only see the AWD kick in when I drive it Stoopid. Lexus already has a ground up redesign in the works for '09. http://www.lexus.com/fcv/lf_x.html . I thought the current design was a bit dated, but there are some features I could not get anywhere else. I like the electric everything such as the AC where I can sit in the car with the A/C on while I'm waiting for the wife to finish an errand. The CVT transmission is great with no sensation of gear changes. That said I never considered the RX 350 .
