Three Kitchen Gadgets I Can't Get Along Without {Shopping Articles Blog}

Feb 11th 2012 7:49PM These are life savers. A spatula is a must have. If you send a bowl to the dishwasher with say, whipped creamcheese on the sides, you will get chewed out by the head chef. Why ? With a spatula you can get a least one serving of the whipped cream cheese from that bowl.
When combined with smoked salmon that one serving is worth about five
bucks verses washing it down the drain.

Everything has to happen in seconds. You have a dining room full of high profile guests. Fifteen minutes to wait for your food while your stomach grumbles is an eternity. You can't take 5 minutes to make a dish. Why ? Five minutes times 200 guests means most of them will walk out. It all has to happen in seconds. You run like a maniac. Any gadget that saves you even one second is a life saver....Alfie-

Unique Waffle Makers Your Family Will Love {Shopping Articles Blog}

Feb 11th 2012 4:33PM Those larger "loose-hinge" waffle makers are worth their weight in gold. Why ? For one thing you can make crispy dimple-grilled chicken in them. Do this by sprinkling your chicken pieces with rotisserie chicken spice mix and arrange the pieces in the waffle maker and grill until they are crispy and juicy. But best is to take your pizza and fold it in two, crimp the edges, and grill it in the waffle maker. It grills it on both sides at once so that the filling gets hot and the cheese gets gooey and the crust is crispy and chewey....Alfie-

Gorgeous time lapse of Australia's "Southern Lights" {Gadling}

Feb 11th 2012 3:56PM Yeah, jets or small planes. Meteors move too fast for time-lapses.
What's incredibly valuable about this is you are looking at the center of our Milky Way galaxy. If you look closely you will notice that it is shrouded in dust and what is hidden by the dust is a black hole. This was first detected by the Xrays it produces. You can also see another galaxy not too far from the center of ours.
There is a lot of stuff out there, a lot. We can't get to any of it, but I'm working on it and I've made a lot of breakthroughs....Alfie-

Knife Holders to Die For {Shopping Articles Blog}

Feb 4th 2012 6:57PM I've prepared meals for over 200,000 clients for two decades.
Never, ever store your knives with the blades exposed.
It's too dangerous. They can fall, you can bump into them, etc.
Store your knives in a chef's knife satchel or wrapped with manilla paper and kept in a drawer with the tips pointing to the back of the drawer.

The best kitchen knife is not those $150.00 Chef's knives. Those are for wanna-be Chef's and culinary Institute instructors. The best general kitchen knife is called a Waverex made by of all people, Ecko and sold for $14.95.
The waverex is made from very thin strong spring steel about 3/64ths of an inch thick. You can slice paper thin potato chips with it or cut a whole chicken in half, bamb. One word of caution. A Waverex kitchen knife will take fingers off if used with out care and skill....Alfie-
