Retailers confirm high definition DVD player price cuts {Engadget HD}

Sep 12th 2006 12:06PM I saw this RCA HD-DVD player at another electronic retailer they {manufactuer} claim the output is 1080p instead of the reported 1080i. The machine's design was cheap and ugly compare to the Toshiba HD-AX1. The picture quality displayed on a non-true Mitsubishi WD-73727 so-called "1080p" DLP was just awesome.

Another setup across the Mitsubishi+RCA HD-DVD setup had the Samsung Blu-Ray player hook up to a 1080p 56" DLP and the picture quality wasn't as sharp and crisp as the HD-DVD., in fact it was kinda "grainy" and the colors didn't look accurate, specially the flesh tones and reds that were over saturated.

BTW: Both setups were connected on HDMI inputs.

Panasonic gets ultraportable with three new Toughbooks {Engadget}

Sep 12th 2006 11:42AM Hello Moto: You're an idiot with your "First Comment".

Koa7: These Toughbooks are the same newly release "Let's Note" notebooks from few months back in Japan, Engadget picked that article.

Bob: Yes you're right. the Titanium casing only covers the back of the screen and the bottom, not the DVD-ROM tray, keypad or input bays., but i've seen them and is a pretty piece of solid ABS plastic.

People, these are NOT consumer notebooks, they are designed for professional individuals {"prosumer"} like architects, field technicians and office rats., these type of customers do not play games or watch HD movies on them, that's why they have some-what limited features compare to ordinary notebooks. Their most influential benefit is their nearly indestructible casing.

5 reasons HDTV might NOT boom {Engadget HD}

Sep 11th 2006 4:44PM MY top 5 answers;

1-Price for the name brand 42-inch sets and smaller are very good. 50-inch sets have started to shown at most respected and factory authorized online and B&M retailers in the same price range as last year's 42-inch, what still seems to be forbidden are the 55 Hitachi's, 58 Panasonic's and 60-inch and larger sets. Hopefully prices will drop considerable for those sizes next year.

2-So true., not even over the air or pay. You just can't seen to find anything worth it on High Definition.

3- Again, very true., I see there's no dedication from the government and the electronics industry to bring
this full force.

4-Well you can blame Sony and the entire Blu-Ray camp for this one., I don't hear Toshiba crying disappointment...

5-Some not all, i for one have 7-TV in total, 1 is a 20" Standard TV/DVD/VCR combo and 6-Flat Panel HDTVs, 2 are only HD-Ready the rest are full integrated sets.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ50 reviewed {Engadget}

Sep 10th 2006 9:58AM Calvin; FYI there are Samsung Cars and heavy construction machinery and in the beginning, Sony produce rice cookers. These are their products, they cannot go "anonymous" just because Americans, the only group of people that complaints more than they need to don't like them branded., if you don't like it, then you can take your money and buy a brand-less Chinese knock off. Simple as that.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ50 reviewed {Engadget}

Sep 10th 2006 9:50AM Tekdroid; In Japan product sub-brands are what consumers recognized more when shopping for a specific product from a specific manufacturer. Panasonic is the manufacturer, Lumix is the namebrand.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ50 reviewed {Engadget}

Sep 9th 2006 9:37PM I was considering buying this camera last week for a few reasons one was the SD Card slot which most of my devices operate using this format but i ended up getting the Sony DSC-R1 instead, even if it mean spending twice as much for equal capacity Memory Stick Pro DUO cards. I'm glad i made the right decision now that i read this about the noise and color bleeding.

Wal-Mart to advertise HDTVs on Monday Night Football {Engadget HD}

Sep 9th 2006 2:00PM Wal-Mart's HDTV selection in stores and at their .com is pretty limited to low-end models from popular brands and even more from unknown brands. As much as i would like them to eliminate Best Buy once and for good, i seriously doubt they could affect their sales. If they want to compete, they will need to dedicate more floor space to mid-range and top-of-the-line plasmas and LCDs from popular brands instead of entry level cheapo models.

IFA 2006: Daewoo's 50-inch plamsa {Engadget HD}

Sep 9th 2006 1:55PM The same old two-tone silver bezel with Gloss Black mask and side speakers design. Philips use this combination last year. This year is Hitachi, Hyundai Prima {Chinese brand}, Polaroid {the plasmas} and a thousand others turn. Where's the originality?

De-badging your cellphone / PDA with sugar {Engadget}

Sep 9th 2006 1:49PM I just try this and it did NOT work. Now i have tiny scratches onthe back casing., great! The solution turn out to the worse than the remedy.

Check out the first two Panasonic 103-inch plasmas this weekend {Engadget HD}

Sep 8th 2006 3:27PM I hate when people nickname Panasonic "panny" or Samsung "Sammy" or Pioneer "Pio" that is so retarded. There's ONLY one N in Panasonic and one M in Samsung. There's no constructive need for those nicknames.

What's the point of this? watching a football game or getting the first live-look via TV of the 103 set. I don't get it, honestly.

I'd rather see something else on my 42" Panasonic Viera and 42" Panasonic Onyx., that way, I'll still have the Panasonic experience with TWO different far-more-interesting broadcasts.

If you're willing to take a loan at a fixed rate for the total amount of the unit, plus delivery and setup, then anyone [with good credit] can own one of these.
