JCPenney: "We Don't Do African-American Hair" {Blackvoices Main}

Nov 21st 2008 6:56PM Is this a repost or something? I know I commented on this topic before. I'll say it again. It wasn't a matter of race unless they turned up their nose and said it in a hostile manner. It is matter of having a stylist skilled enough to work with AA hair. All stylist are not trained how to work with our grade of hair. My mother used to go a stylist at JCP who she loved. The girl was Panamanian so she knew how to work with our hair. When she left, my mom left. There are some white stylists who know how to do Black hair. If they happen to work for JCP then they will do you hair. Otherwise, go somewhere where you won't have to worry about having your hair damaged by someone who isn't trained to work with your hair.

Are Blacks Unprepared For Digital TV Flip? {Blackvoices Main}

Sep 22nd 2008 1:27PM From what I understand those with satellite and cable don't need to worry about it. Most black people I know use paid services. Very few still use any type of antennae (unless the cable company shut them down.)

Also, most new TVs (bought within the last year or so) are already digital so you don't need the converter box. With people switching to flat screens that covers another large portion of the population.

Damon Dash: Loses Another Company {BV Newswire}

Sep 8th 2008 1:30AM Dude is a jerk for real. Wasted so much of his money. I remember watching some special a while ago about him. He wore his socks one time and threw them away. Not only a waste of money but also fills up the landfills unnecessarily. Let's say he changes shoes and sock at least twice a day 365 days a year -- you do the math. He also had a shoe collection that was stored in a closet bigger than most people's apartments. He also had the vodka that no one cold afford and those who could didn't. Just not a good look at all. Oh and there was something about him keeping that oldest son with him all the time so he wouldn't have to pay child support. I also remember he wouldn't marry Rachel and I think she had to give him an ultimatum. Hmmmm, she has him now

Rap Can Help Teens, Film Shows {Blackvoices Main}

Apr 30th 2007 2:39PM Are you sure this is the premiere? I remember this show premiering last year at the Harlem International Film Festival.

Beauty and the Obese {Blackvoices Main}

Apr 30th 2007 2:12PM This is the most shallow thing I've read in a long time. Attractive according to whom? I'm sure she is butt ugly to everyone and people who actually have some integrity do judge people based on their brains and talent as opposed to what is on the outside. You can lose weight or get plastic surgery to fix your looks but if your personality stinks you're out of luck unless you decide to be a better person.

Skinny in Harlem, Estate of the Day {Luxist}

Feb 23rd 2007 2:43PM Wow, that was a backhanded insult if I ever heard one...it IS in Harlem????

JASMINE GUY: Back Up In 'Harlem' {BV Newswire}

Feb 9th 2007 2:46PM I think the camera angle and picture are just unflattering.

Things I Hate About TV: Sitcoms that kill off characters {AOL TV}

Apr 9th 2006 10:41AM It was pretty convoluted...well, more than usual. I couldn't watch it all the way through. Figured I'll catch it in repeats. Now, "Sex and the City" is a show that I would love to see resurface.

Does anyone under 40 watch CBS Sunday Morning ... besides me? {AOL TV}

Apr 9th 2006 10:16AM Yup another under 40 fan. The predictability and the interesting profiles. The quality of the reports and Osgoode's soooothing voice are all favorable factors.

Patti LaBelle's Home, Estate of the Day {Luxist}

Mar 23rd 2006 9:23PM Very ordinary with the exception of the pool. I think the fact that it has the history and the pool drive the price up. She will probably be throwing in some of the furniture and decor in with the asking price.
