Jul 25th 2007 2:52PM I am a USN Navy retired Master Chief with a VA compensated disability. By the way, I pay my own disability by giving up some of my retired pay to fund it.. That is a whole different story which is being addressed. I have extensive knowledge of two VA hospitals that I have used. Neither one of them are as good as their civilian counterparts, however I believe that I have received fair and just treatment in both of them. What I have found is that, like so many other people in repetive jobs, the VA employes tend to become a little lax in their customer service skills. I have found that, instead of bitching on the internet, or whining to whom ever will listen, take your complaints right to the patient advocate, be complete and unemotional, stick to the facts and you will receive better service. The last time I went to a VA hospital I was helped by someone in admin that could barely speak english and he was rude. I IMMEDIATELY explained to him in great detail what his function in life was as concerns service to me. He IMMEDIATELY had a change of attitude and I received excellent service. I also reported him to the patient advocate as someone that needs supervision and more customer service training. Do I care if he lost his job because of my complaint? Hell no, he had opportunity to the right thing and he chose to provide me with bad service. Too often I see vets getting shabby treatment and they sit, some of them hang their heads, and take that crap. Veterans, start standing on own two freaking feet and quit whining to every one else. Another good thing is program your state senators and/or representative phone number in your phone and call them for the real big stuff. Remember, these politicians can't handle the little things, that is up to you, but big things get them involved. I have read a lot of the comments on here and I am pretty sure that a lot of them are only telling one side of the story. Veterans, please do not become a part of the weakness that is spreading through this nation. Be strong, stand on your own two feet and handle your problems without the help of the liberal freaking media. Join one of the good solid veterans organizations, American Legion, VFW, or DAV. Get involved.. !!!!!!!!!!!!!
