Hooters Waitress, Cassie White, Punished for Weight {AOL Jobs}

May 21st 2010 7:07PM As stated earlier, if you're hired as a slab of meat, don't be surprised if your employers don't want you more "marbled" than when they hired you. Any girl who works for Hooters and buys into their overt message about women and sells the message every day wearing that ridiculous outfit seems to me to deserve poor treatment, and any indignation is really quite silly.

Cleavage Creek Wine for Breast Cancer Research {Luxist}

Oct 15th 2007 3:26PM Breast cancer isn't about cleavage. That's something for the guys. No woman on a desert island worries about showing her breasts above her clothing. The fact that this is a potentially deadly disease is in this instance treated entirely too lightheartedly and "male-gaze" oriented. Women with a high genetic potential for breast cancer sometimes opt to have preventive mastectomies rather than face the rigors of battling this cancer. Please, promote the cause with taste and some respect for the women who face a life-endangering illness!

Fuego By Sosa Cigars, A Cigar Bar For Disney {Luxist}

Jul 20th 2007 5:16PM With all the accusations flying, a couple of things might be noted. Smoking IS still legal, and that seems to be an anomaly like alcohol, as most addictive substances ARE illegal. Those two are simply the ones that have come to involve huge corporate interests and hence, legislative support.

I don't want to see heroin junkies or crack addicts getting their fix in the "drug-users" area, and I don't appreciate people getting drunk around me. Might as well sit in the "non-farter's area" of a restaurant as the non-smoker's area. Same thing. Bad smell = bad smell. Want to sit next to the table for "bad B.O." customers?

Consideration cannot be legislated, but we can and have tried to minimize the damage or unpleasantness caused by litter, pollutants, addiction and poisons in our food. All of this has benefited every one of us in some way. Whether this is an infringement on the rights of the litterers, polluters, addicts or food companies is irrelevant to me.

I don't push for anti-smoking bans. But, at some point, the weight of public opinion seems to triumph, and our legislators recognize that the common good can involve protection under law. Or perhaps not. If you're libertarian about smoking, it's hypocritical not to endorse "freedom" in all drug use and whatever corporate practices make the most money, regardless of effect on health.

I'm actually just as worried about the spelling and grammar in these posts. I want to live in a literate country with an educated electorate. Seems I don't!
