I've had dogs of one kind or another around for nearly 50 years. I'm raising blue heelers, right now. GOOD dogs. I hear a lot of really ignorant, patronizing, condescending, and downright stupid things, regarding dogs. In VA some heifer claiming to be that person who goes into the animal control facility and evaluate puppies and dogs to determine whether they can be socialized and adopted, stated, completely confident of the "pearls" she was imparting to me, that all female dogs allowed to experience their first heat cycle before being spayed, have a 50% higher probability of experiencing mammary cancer than a dog that does not. My response to this so very confident person, was to deduce, verbally, from her great gift to me, "That must mean that of all female canines that have existed since the dawn of canines, 1/2 of those that experienced their first heat cycle, died of mammary cancer." She promptly removed herself from my presence. Those of you out there medicating your females for incontinence, it's most likely been caused because your femaile was spayed too young, and now you are going to pay for prescription med for her for the rest of her life. They really should NOT be spayed before approx. a yr old. Now, anyone that can so confidently remark that everyone on here is "dog-ignorant" for believing that dogs can be trained to use a certain area as a facility for their waste deposits, is absolutely in the same category of ignorance, to put it charitably, as this "mammary cancer" person. "Do what makes your dog healthy and happy"!!?? What?!! It amazes me this mentality is actually allowed to exist, much less flourish as it has, in this country! This is yet another selfish reasoning "justifying" abusive behavior as being "normal", in how you treat your fellow humans. MY property is MY property, not YOUR property or your DOG's property. THAT would be where YOU live. Let YOUR dog CRAP in YOUR property. Oh, and where I live, if YOUR dog comes onto MY property, it is automatically a threat to my family and my livestock, and I will KILL it. And the law will support that. So, if your dog's "RIGHT" to "happiness" and to dump on MY property is worth it's life to you...send it right on over, there, Lindsay. I love dogs, but I love MY dogs. I don't have to love YOUR dogs. That's your choice and responsibility. I love my children, my livestock, my poultry, and MY HOME, that I pay the taxes on, and all of the improvements and maintenance. When YOU pay for all of those things, and all of the other expenses of my family and livestock, then you can dictate where your pooch poops all your little pea pickin' heart desires. When you are handing out advice, all confident in your stupidity, make sure it's you getting set up for a butt whoopin', and not the poor slob you are handing out bad advice to.

If, and this is straight from law enforcement..not "humane society board members" who put animals before people,..IF it is posted, and/or that dog owner or any other person, is specifically told to stay off that property, it is ILLEGAL for them to continue to access that property, via dog or otherwise. You are giving VERY BAD adivice, for "serving on a humane society board". You may consider obtaining some training. All you are doing is contributing to an already out of control problem of NO courtesy, NO manners, NO guidelines, and NO upbringing...spoiled self indulgence with no regard for others.

Aug 30th 2010 3:00PM Exactly whom are you referring too? The livestock in the yard thing, I'm completely cool with that. I grew up on ranches. If there's a neighbor within 100 acres of me, that's closer than I want them to be. I don't even want the rural route mail man to know where my house is, just drop the mail in a mail box out in the middle of nowhere. Animals are SO much preferrable to people. Living in a crowded, urban or suburban setting, and allowing your animals, epecially carnivorous animals, that stink like people do, to CRAP on someone else's property, is not only rude, it's ABUSIVE and shows a complete disdain for those people and total disregard of their rights. As for "different laws regarding horses" that someone else posted, you are completely missing the POINT...and WTF ever! YOU move back to town, you DORK.

Aug 30th 2010 2:25PM Of COURSE it's trespassing. I own horses. How would you feel if I let my horses come on i and evacuate on your front lawn...fenced or not? We all have a right to OUR space. Our "God's green acre", as it were. No one has the right to deliberately go in and despoil someone else's home. The pets are an extension of ourselves, and our yards are an extension of our homes. Let her potty in YOUR yard, then take her for her walk. Even female dogs are territorial, and mark their locations with anal gland excretions and urine. You can minimize her urges to do that in other peoples' yards by encouraging her to use yours/hers for that.

I hate it when wives, mothers, and daughters, feel like they need "better" boobs, a surgically augmented butt or stomach, and lip injections. Guys are getting fake pectorals, calves, biceps. S-T-U-P-I-D and WEAK. My husband and I don't even have tatoos. The only piercings I have are in my ear lobes. Why would people be so lacking in confidence and self esteem to think they could artificially maintain something that was not meant to be maintained? It cannot be done, and I don't care how "good" the surgeon is. Mother Nature will have her way. We are supposed to change and age. It is the natural procession of time. There is no amount of surgery that will change the facts of passing time, death, or taxes. They are all inevitable.
