Where is the most tasty tap water? {Slashfood}

Feb 26th 2008 12:46AM LA gets water from both northern California AND the colorado river and I can assure you that colorado river water is better than the water from the Sierra mountains in California. It's not a shock that LA got top honors. It's got a good source. But I think water really depends on the pipes in your neighborhood. It varies considerably. Not shocking to me, as I consider LA tap to be among the best, but it may shock bottled water drinkers than LA has won numerous water competitions, consistently making top five at this particular competition.

Academy to Open Film Museum in 2012 {Cinematical}

Nov 9th 2007 2:16AM I couldn't care less about Forrest Gump or Crash or other Oscar travesties, so I pray that the Academy museum is about overall film rather than the Oscars. But it'll be nice to finally go to Hollywood and see/do something actually related to film.

Cinematical Seven: Most Overrated Actors {Cinematical}

Apr 25th 2007 6:40AM My list:

1)Denzel Washington -the most hammy, scene-chewing, over-emotive actor.
2)Russell Crowe -over-emotive, unremarkable.
3)Scarlett Johanssen -cannot hit even the most basic lines of dialogue.
4)Johnny Depp -love his movies, but plays parts that are way to big for his talent.
5)Nicholas Cage-the most unconvincing action hero.

Bridget Moynahan Expecting, Tom Brady Is the Father {Fanhouse NFL Blog}

Feb 19th 2007 5:17PM It does NOT reflect how society's morals are low. Having a child out of wedlock is no longer a taboo, just as having homosexual parents is no longer a taboo, and just as divorced families are no longer taboo. Get with the times, off your high horse, and stop judging what people do in their private lives.

Mark Bittman picks the best Chinese restaurants in SoCal {Slashfood}

Dec 19th 2006 4:28AM Love of food encompasses all nationalities. His opinion isn't any less important because he isn't Chinese.

AOL #1 worst tech product ever, according to PC World {BloggingStocks}

May 30th 2006 12:05AM YOu don't have to be a computer geek to hate AOL. You just have to have used it. Become one of their victims.
The browser they use is ridiculous. What the hell is that? A million things pop up on the screen and it takes a million clicks to get rid of the stuff. It was absolute hell to even get online, although that has more to do with the archaic thing they call dial-up.

Then when you try to cancel, it's hell to find the number on their website. And then you have to talk to the service lady who spends the next ten minutes talking about the service, questions on why you are canceling your account, and then begging you to reconsider for more free hours.

El Bulli Named The World's Best Restaurant {Luxist}

Apr 17th 2006 4:35AM They rank sushi in London higher than in Japan or Los Angeles?!

Oscar Best and Worst Dressed {Luxist}

Mar 9th 2006 6:15AM I know everyone hates the bow, but I think Charlize looked gorgeous. Making fun of the bow is too cheap. In a sea of red carpet safe taste and boredom, only someone like Charlize can pull off something so avant garde. The construction of the dress seemed a little loose, but the idea of a dress that wraps a woman in completely in ribbons with a big bow on top is very daring with a sense of humour. Very iconic and very controversial. I liked it.

Roger Ebert really likes-likes Crash {Cinematical}

Mar 6th 2006 5:51AM Crash is thought-provoking, but mainly because it completely misses the point about racism in America. It provokes thought on how it misses the point. The characters are contrived sterotypes that are given a cheap character reversal, as if that makes up for the characters being completely un-real. The movie just looks down at the audience as if we have to be taught about racism at the most basic and childish level.
Each character is completely hysterical. It allows the audience to sit and judge these people without relating to any of them. So many people defend this movie saying "I know these types of people." But I have never heard anyone say "I recognize myself in Matt Dillon's cop." And there lies the problem with Crash. You can't relate to caracatures. The racists are THEM, but they aren't US. And this movie makes it so easy to enjoy that safe position.

This movie makes us believe that racism is only the type that makes itself obvious by unintelligent hate-filled bigots. It never takes the audience out of its comfort zone where it hold a mirror to ourselves. We don't have to have hate-filled motives to be prejudiced ourselves. It's a racism that we don't notice that's so prevalent and dangerous and Crash doesn't apparently doesn't really notice it either.
