Microsoft moves 960K Xbox 360 consoles, 750K Kinect units 'week of Black Friday' {Joystiq}

Nov 29th 2011 5:19PM Well considering there are 155 million households in the US, selling a million is certainly nice but in the big scheme of things, it's not a huge number ... plus with all the promotions, MS probably cleared about $25 on each ... as for the windows numbers, keep in mind that MS counts licenses sold as 'sold." They count OEm & corporate licenses and companies have to buy them in each quarter (no returns or if you don't use them all, you still have to pay upfront) ... MS makes as little as $5 on each one sold.

RIM Cedes to Indonesia's Demands, Agrees to Block Porn on BlackBerrys {Switched}

Jan 10th 2011 4:42PM I thought RIm';s crappy web browsing experience would serveas a deterent ... in other words, how would Rim users be able to tell from the slow load whether it's just the RIM OS or censorship?

Prince of Persia Retro leaping onto App Store {Joystiq}

May 20th 2010 2:01PM Those Android numbers are based on a self survey and completely offbase when compared to actual sales number released Monday. But the main problem with Android is the 6 incompatible OS versions that are different with EACH telco and EACH device making devloping for the Android a non starter other than for hobbyist. It's like developing a game for Linux, which of the 40 versions for each device, each telco and each OS do you develop for. Besides, Google is only intersted in getting you to search and click on ads - the rest is just a weak copy of the iphone to get it out the door for $49.

iPad popular on Twitter, biggest complaint is no Flash {TUAW.com}

Feb 3rd 2010 3:18AM Who's against Flash?

I know I love continually flash ads that take up 79% of my screen.

Is there any better software than acrobat?

Well except acrobat pro for $799

Or photoshop in a big box for $4,000.

Isn't flash the app to surprise us with a real loud audio snippet?

It's the best app that requires a daily upgrade download (next to the real player).

They added DRM last year, I know I voted for that.

there are two things on the web that require an opt out - flash home pages & spam email - we need more opt out.

what's the internet without a plug in?

they love the mac as much as autocad.

it's not easy to sell software PC users consider slow and buggy ...

Apple iPad: The definitive guide (so far) {Engadget}

Jan 30th 2010 2:03PM There IS an excuse for no SD slot - PIRACY.

Or like the Nexus phone - get an SD slot but lose access to all but 200 MB of 1 16 GB device?

Nice tradeoff for magnetized plastic ... it's called SYNC - don't need an SD slot.

BTW, you can clone your SIm chip and convert it to a MicroSIM - I'm presuming in 3 months you will be able to buy more on ebAy :-)

Adobe engages Apple in passive aggressive warfare with iPhone's Flash message {Engadget}

Nov 2nd 2009 11:09PM Why is flash the only web technology that required an opt out? Because it's annoying and pointless? Adobe is "all" abut openess, right? bwhahahaha ... they're just miffed they spent billion to buy Flash and now in the mobile & HTML 5.0 world, it's pointless and worthess ... flash was useful to play frogger on a web banner but now that I have an app for it - it's now justthe animated gif of the 21st century. So, adobe will drop flash and support the equal HTML 5 standards for animating web elements? Like apple as done in the gorgeous opening graphic of Safari? Or will they defend their billion dollar purchase of flash (hey abobe, where's that freehand update?)

Verizon's anti-iPhone gets its first commercial: 'Droid Does' (update) {Engadget}

Oct 18th 2009 4:20AM problem is the only 1% of population that understands what the ad is doesn't really believe an adndroid phone will be 100% unlocked and open source on verizon so ultimately it's self defeating.

80% of the people think it's a michael bay movie ad and since they don't see will smith's face won't be seeing it.

19% have no idea why a blurry transformer robot is a better phone than one that is advertised straightforward and simple.

this is a showcase and showy because it makes the project manager seem as if he's working on transformers3 but the reality is this ad doesn't serve as actual advertising ... at least it's more WTH than Palm's WTF with the whitest white girl ads.

Could the RIMM growth slowdown be a bad sign for Apple? {Daily Finance}

Sep 29th 2009 3:32AM In a word, No. RIM is trying desperately to build market share with their buy 1 get 1 free deal while apple makes up to $699 PER PHONE to the tune of 40 million phones this year. RIM's consumer satisfaction rate is about 60% of Apple's (iphone 90% satisfaction, RIM 55%) and of consumers pay full price (subsidized of course but to Apple it's 100%) whiel RIm's sales strength is to corporations where it's a selling proces and with lower budgets this yea and next ... basically it will be like the PC market, Apple has the high value margins (91% market share in the $1k plus retail market) while RIM like their PC brethern fight it out at the low end. AFTER all this time, RIm still is hopefully outclassed by Apple's technology ... outside of corporate email servers, RIM is weak. So RIm will be spending money on marketing and buying the #2 market share while Apple will soon add China to theportfolio (and Rim will never with its non Chinese keyboard while Apple's keyboard is SOFTWARE and already offering most Asian languages ... Korean coming in 6 months ...).
