USGP may be cancelled in 2008: F1 not coming back to Indy {Autoblog}

Jul 12th 2007 3:50PM I guess Ecclestone is the bigger pr#$k but will this be another American racing debacle that George has been a part of. Like when real racers quit participating in the 500 and the dissolution of well funded and talented open wheel racing in the US.

POLL: Tell us what you think of Car and Driver's redesign {Autoblog}

Jan 29th 2007 11:56PM TD500 your dead on. I got a subscription to the magazine after not reading it for a good ten years and was struck by all the right wing radio red meat in the editorials. You mention Bedard but don't forget Mr. Cannonball Run Himself Brock Yates, he maybe over compensating for his effete name.

They need to cut out stuff like this recent rant from Yates,

"Of course, if we pay attention to the Cassandra-like fulminations of the liberal media, we might be led to believe that hybrid vehicles are our only hope to save us all from ozone asphyxiation and indentured slavery to the Arab oil barons."

Good Lord why do I have to find politics in my car magazine? I subscribed to Road and Track as well and thankfully they seem to avoid borrowing phrases from Rush and Billy O'. He makes it hard with all the Frank Luntz style writing.

My copies of Handgunner and Soldier Of Fortune are less mired in pundit speak.

Other than that Car and Driver Rocks, it still never rocks as hard as Road and Track. R and T has race coverage and better tech articles.

Motor Trend seems like it would be a better fit for the right wing political articles, that or sister pub Hot Rod.

Yes, it plays "Dixie" -- General Lee replica on eBay {Autoblog}

Jan 24th 2007 1:43PM I still do not understand what is Patriotic about a flag that represents those, "who would rather own slaves than be American." As opposed to the city of San Francisco, which contributes more in taxes to the support of the US than both Alabama and Mississippi?

American labor unions: If you want my opinion... {BloggingStocks}

Dec 5th 2006 4:05PM union members = stockholders William Jennings Bryan did a speach about a hundred years ago talking about unions being as big and admirable group of capitalists as any captain of industry and I agree. Unions should be beating every last dime out of employers and employers should be doing the same out of their union members. Altruism is bullshit, adversarial systems are the only way we can ensure that everyone is working their hardest and most effeciently.

Good Unions? makes as much sense as good Corporations. Corporations do good just like unions when the system works unimpeded by true believers whether they be bleeding heart lefties are their pie in the sky true believing right wing counterparts, you know the so called libertarians that gave you "Right to Work" legislation. So much for free market capitalism.

I would say to any stockholder, union member or citizen of the Republic that the world is full of risk. If you aren't actively involved with the organizations in which you are a stakeholder you will get things like out of control unions, businesses and government. Oh, and guess what? You'll deserve it!

Underage copulation in 911 raises some questions {Autoblog}

Nov 9th 2006 4:29PM Sunroof, women in lap and the ebrake down. Get my drift.

Reports: Villeneuve signed NASCAR deal with Roush {Autoblog}

Oct 5th 2006 6:04PM JPM and JV are great drivers, though they probably won't win any good citizens awards. I think that may be the reason they find themselves in NASCAR. JV has done pretty well in the last few years given what he was driving.

I have always liked both drivers. JPM seemed to be developing quite well as an F1 driver until this season. If I had a team I would want him instead of the overrated Coultard. But DC is a better person evidently.

RR of the Day: Meet Blowby {Autoblog}

Oct 3rd 2006 11:11PM I got a 98 Cherokee along with my wife when we married five years ago. I had a Wrangler at the time, with the Iron Duke pushrod four. The four liter six has some balls but the low end on that 2.5 was pretty remarkable. Sold the wrangler when I got a MINI.

We still have that Cherokee and it has about 120k on the odometer and the only thing I have done to it is brakes, tires, air cleaner and oil. Great car. It's good to see I have another ten years I can bang the thing around.

I have to agree with the comment made earlier though. DCX should have evolved the marque, much like the tj. The brand loyalty and cache of a classic can make you a bunch of money. Can you imagine how cool an updated version would be with a diesel power plant. The rock crawlers would be amped.

RR of the Day: 1968 BMW 1600 {Autoblog}

Sep 28th 2006 2:24PM Now all we need is a Datsun 510 to race it.

The cars of the moonshiners {Autoblog}

Sep 22nd 2006 11:43AM These idiots at Hot Rod. Early adopters dumbasses. Adapters as used in the piece is just weak. I fucking hate those guys. The jist of the article was interesting though.

Is Junior Johnson related to Jimmie Johnson?

Alonso calls Schumacher most unsporting driver ever {Autoblog}

Sep 13th 2006 12:21AM Alonso is being a silly. Next year when Kimi starts kicking his ass will he make a crack about him too? I think bringing up history doesn't prove Alonso's point it just says a little about Alonso.

True sportsman drive well and keep their opinions to themselves, unless they're funny. I look forward to the ascention of Speed, Rosberg and Raikkonen.
